One more of my son.

The one with the eagle is a nice shot, i agree though the back ground is a bit faded (and i dont mean blurred, i mean faded). Its not as sharp as it could be, but its still a nice shot. What lens did you use for that?

The one with your son is another classic lol. But remember the rule of thirds (although u followed it in this picture, your close to putting him in the center) the subject shouldnt be dead center

The one with the sunset is really nice, awesome colours

It's not "over-exposed", it's "high-key"! :D

Hey mc25 thanks for the comments. lens is a nikon 18-55 stock kit lens that came with my d60.

MikesJo 07-12-2008 03:12 PM

Deo, awesome shots!

Levitron 07-12-2008 03:43 PM

Colin, pretty good on balancing the sunlight + shadows.

It's pretty tough when you have a full manual flash isn't it :)

ColinK 07-12-2008 03:48 PM

omg! tell me about it! The worst part was the fstop hoping all over the place, sometimes the flash would be super bright or super dark. Oh well, all the more exciting :P

Had the flash on the floor the whole time. I didn't have a tripod or lightstand.

I like this one. Less of the top would be nice with more focus on the heron (since that's what you're aiming for anyways right?).

I like the 3rd picture Colin, good job!

ColinK 07-14-2008 01:34 PM

Thanks for the comments. This was my second "portrait" shoot. All in all I think it went well. I think I learnt a lot. Biggest problem was nasty shadows and figuring out where the heck they were actually coming from opposed to where they appeared to be coming from :)

MikesJo 07-14-2008 01:40 PM

Love the shots Colin!

DL, nice batch with your new lens :).

dL 07-14-2008 03:20 PM

Thanks Mike! And very very nice shots Colin! What camera do you shoot with?

And one more random shot...
