Haven't really figured out how to use it well. I've just been shooting with a wide angle, up close against the corner of a wall. Anyone have any tips on where to start?

ur pretty much using it correctly. i mean not much u can mess up with a ring flash. but for a better result through in some back lighting or key lights w/ softbox, etc to produce a better image. And remember u can also use the ring light as an off axis light, dont have to have it exactly dead on. be creative, u'll find u can get some awesome results.

...and if you plan on printing it, you should be working in CMYK.

Meowjin 05-09-2009 04:34 PM

Or printer profile :)

Because my friend does all my canvas printing, I'm using

"SP7898 Epson Matte Canvas Lumina Gloss"

So I guess RGB?

I just looked at my export setting and it says sRGB so it should be sRGB.

Just for the record SRGB is best used for browsers for webviewing. They look ok on my screen (google chrome/IE 6.0)

MikesJo 05-09-2009 04:44 PM

I'm exporting in sRGB so for the most part they look like what they did in LR. I think my large monitor is miss calibrated. My MB Pro monitor looks fine but then when I bring them over to my Dell they're a bit over saturated. Damn monitor is so bright.

Meowjin 05-09-2009 05:34 PM

did you use any calibration tools for your moniter? I do believe mbp come calibrated out of box, but I wouldn't trust a laptop moniter.

MikesJo 05-09-2009 06:26 PM

I've calibrated my mbp monitor and external with a spyder pro. I just got the Dell so it was calibrated at a different time and there was light in the room so I think that threw it off. I'll try it again when I get some time.
