davidhtam: First pic, don't cut them at the calves, either higher or lower up. The emotion is good in that shot though. 2nd shot, bring them away from the background, they're too close in that shot. Otherwise good  .

First time submitter... Taken with my lowly Pentax Optio S. Just your typical wannabe-artistic super-up-close macro fare....
Didn't bother with lighting, so lots of noise, even at 50 ISO  Levels tweaked with photoshop.

Im not sure, but I think this was used as an observatory before. Not sure why it's still there, but it definitely was an interesting structure once we took the short but very bumpy road to the higher observation point of Volcan Irazu. 
The funny thing about it is it didn't provide a very good view....that and it had started to cloud over a lot, so this is what we saw.... 
The 11-16 amazingly does pretty good for closeups too....  | |
