I like how right after he won silver they interviewed him:

"you just won silver, do you have anything to say to the people of your home town, Canmore Alberta?"

"hello"

They don't care. I just came back from women's hockey game at UBC's Thunderbird Stadium. I brought my 40D + 15-85mm + 70-300mm + 70-200 F2.8 IS and had no problems getting in. I also saw some other dude with at least a 400mm lens up in the nosebleed section.

Oh, and make sure you don't bring any fire arms with you like this idiot that got caught and arrested. WTF was he thinking? Oh wait... he was probably from the US... *sigh*

Anyway, few shots from the game:

Saw these mounted up above

Rest is on my flickr page. Here's a link to the slide show if any of you wanna check it out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/niforpix/sets/72157623464907684/show/

Yup! Actually what happened, the couple (the dude and his wife) both had a gun each. They were scanning the bags through and I guess the guy that was looking at the screen, got really mixed up and wasn't sure which bag was which. So the guy with the gun got arrested, then his wife followed him with her bag, and after they both left, the dude at the scanner couldn't find the 2nd bag with the gun. They scanned my bag twice and searched it (all I had in there was 2 lenses), they searched and scanned my wife's bag and after 15 minutes we were finally done and ready to go to the game (already 20 minutes late at this point) when one of the security people asks me who was behind me and if I remember what they looked like. I'm thinking "WTF... you scanned the god damn bag, you saw a gun, you lost the bag somehow, and now you don't remember what the person looked like that owned the bag"... talk about trained staff lol Anyway, that's my story for today lol

Why the fuck did they even bring a gun? Did they think they'd get through security?!

You know what's messed up though... when I was lining up to go through the security check for BC Place for one of the victory ceremonies, some of the "express" lines (for smaller bags, etc), didn't even have a scanner. They were just checking bags by hand. Same thing happened at the Yaletown Live Nation, when I went to the Matisyahu concert. They security guy DIDN'T EVEN OPEN my camera bag! He just touched the small pocket at the front and felt the spare batteries and asked: "Battries?" I said "Yes, spare batteries" and that was it. Someone could've easily walked in there with a gun. I think maybe that's what happened with this guy. He's gotten into other events with his gun (this is just my guess...) so he thought he could do the same at a hockey game. Pretty messed up how some events are more strict than others. Again, how many billions $$ did they spend on security?

....and that's why that guy was able to get so close to Joe Biden. This is the kind of security $1 billion of our tax dollars buys us? What a joke...much like the rest of the Olympics. *grumble grumble*

Our Lady Peace concert down in Richmond. Crowd was pretty rowdy and a lot of people were pushing and getting lifted to the front, mosh pit style.
