Hi guys, picked up my first ever dSLR last week, a lowly Nikon D40 with the kit 18-55mm. Been using point and shoot for years, decided it was time to learn how to actually use a camera. Hope to be able to shoot like Senna and other experts here one day! Please feel free to criticize to let me know what to improve on.
I have tickets to the womens hockey semi-final, does anyone know if they'll let me in with a 70-300 lens? (it's in Canada hockey place. I assume thats actually GM place)
I read about the 75mm restriction on their website so I only brought my 50mm 1.8 and it was never checked when I went to the USA vs SUI game. Several people around me had what looked like 70-300's and they were shooting without issue. My bag was x-ray'd but never looked into, I suppose you could bring your 70-300 and if they say anything you could swap to your smaller lens.

I brought a 70-300 to the victory ceremonies, had no issues, going to take it to curling tomorrow

The 75mm restriction is for NHL. Olympics are different. The only restrictions they have are no use of flash (which everyone uses anyway with their P&S cameras) and no radio transmitters like Pocket Wizards, etc. You can pretty much bring any length lens you want. I saw some guy with at least a 400 or 500mm shooting without any problems.

Well, we took our dogs out to the Cloverdale dog park yesterday, where they have a dedicated small dog off-leash area, and they loved it... I got a bunch of pictures as well, including this one - not our dog, but I thought it was a cool action shot
And here's our guys: Groucho (with the ball) and Dusty!
