Thanks, but those were taken with my Sony A700 + 200mm f2.8G APO HS, not my 5DmkII. I was using the 5DmkII for video.

Yes, we have stock of the 5DmkII - $2900.

5DmkII:
- image quality - images smooth until about 400 ISO, then noise creeps in.
- wedding/events/fashion camera
- can use the FF lenses to their full potential
- 4 fps - good enough for most people
- 25~30MB RAW files, be prepared to buy external HD's every few months!

7D:
- AF speed/tracking
- sports/wildlife
- there is noise visible even at 100 ISO
- crop sensor
- more video options
- 8.5 fps (!)

I've had both the 5D MKII, and the 7D and i enjoy the 7D more for what i do. Which is nature, and sports mostly. It's a great crop sensor camera. I do LOVE FF though!.. such quality!

Thanks for the cliffs notes!

i always thought that the 5D2 could shoot up to 6400 ISO and still have usable results? (with some clean up i suppose?) does it still have any of that banding issue i read about on POTN? one thing i did notice over my 50D is how slow the 5D2 seems to autofocus...maybe it's just me.

7D - visible noise at 100 ISO? yikes!! that i didn't know!

nifopix - yah dood, i thought my 50D was quick, but the 7D is much faster!

boostslut - i love the features of the 7D and also that it's nearly 1000bux cheaper than the 5D2...thing is, i don't shoot sports nor wildlife and i keep getting lured in by the 5D2's image quality....argh!!!!

Yeah, the 5DmkII does have some banding issues, but it's mostly resolved. It's mostly visible if your image is a little underexposed and you try to lift the shadows. I haven't used a 50D before, but the AF speed shouldn't be much different. The difference is AF tracking...the 50D should be better there.

It's not obnoxious or anything...it's just always there, and steadily increases as the ISO goes up. The 5DmkII has almost no noise up to 400 ISO, then BAM! you get a little bit of noise up to 6400 ISO, then it gets worse after that.

Couple shots from the GE Plaza next to the skating rink on Robson. Dude playing is Alex*Cuba. Great show...even if it was all in Spanish!
