The difference between the 24mm f1.4 and the mkII is very noticeable. If you think the Canon 35mm f1.4L is so good, then you haven't used a Sony 35mm f1.4 G (creamier bokeh) or a Leica 35mm f1.4 Summilux ASPH (stunningly sharp wide open to about f16, ok so it costs 2.5 times more). The 35L is not one of the best primes Canon makes anymore - the 24mm f1.4L II, 17mm f4 TS-E, 24mm f3.5 TS-E II & 100mm f2.8 Macro IS are all stunning. I'm not saying the 35L is shit - far from it, but I'm just saying there are other great 35mm f1.4 lenses out there.

Anyways, all I really wanted to say was that if you can wait, maybe an updated 35L will be officially announced soon. If you need one right away, there's nothing wrong with buying the mkI.
