had to wait for over an hour to get onto the golf course today, due to the frost. so i booted it down to the end of Byrne Road and saw this bridge, which was in the "open" position.

yup, definately expensive and honestly wasn't that great IMO. didn't see the lions or other felines since they didn't come out of their concrete house.

i think the Aquarium is a better place for photos.

i saw the big cats, but the only kind of shots you can get is of one behind a fence. if you break the rules and walk/jump over the small railing just around the fence, you might be able to stick your lens in between the mesh(which would interfere with your shot a bit), but this was all could get on that day:

Thanks alot! Ya its an open enclosure, so you can get some nice shots of the animals. Most of the animals in the Melbourne Zoo are in an open enclosure. It's a great place i've been there quite a few times since its close to my place, and i got a yearly pass so its good entertainment for myself when the g/f isn't around. It also helps having a long fast lens to get nice shots of the animals too. Makes it seem like they are not even in the zoo!

Also to get a better shot you need more seperation between the animal and the fence as well. If that lion was further away from the fence, the fence have been a gray haze in the photo, and you'd have a nice sharp photo of a lion!.. well hopefully.

I've always wanted to shoot a photo like that but straight on just focused on his eyes and everything around the neck and a bit of the face is kind of blurred like a zoom burst! You know?

The video was crazy! Not my style of dancing but still fun to watch. :)
I like his shades.
And that girl looks familiar. Maybe I've seen her walking around town one day? Who knows. Crazy eye lashes. Sweet model photos!

m3thods 01-12-2011 01:14 PM

Boost out of curiosity, is the Melbourne Zoo free or something? hahah you seem to frequent it quite a bit :D

You're so lucky to get those sorts of shots.. are the big cats fenced off? because it sure doesn't look like it in your photos.

the mystery of the dried reptiles has been solved. supposedly it is used in a soup of some sort and it's believed to help with a weak bladder.
