i've seen the hood, but it really looks useless to me and won't fit easily in gear bags... my other option is to sell the 10-22 and pick up a 17-40 F4 for my 5D instead to get UWA...but i'm not sure if that lens is better other than being an L :) |
Strobist: Vivitar 285HV with 1/4 CTO camera right. Vivitar 285hv bare behind them camera left http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5129/...f87d1141_o.jpg |
^^^ Be careful of the blown out hotspots on their faces. |
I had the flash too close and I didn't notice at the time. Thanks for pointing it out! :) |

from my piss pouring rain outing. equipment still works! http://www.epicdevelopements.com/wp-.../cemetary2.jpg |
^^NVM, the left side of the pic looks shaky/blurry as compared to the right side... particularly the white crosses on the left. i don't know the correct terminology for it, but if u look at the lone black tombstone on the left, versus the rest of the tombstones on the right, there's a difference on the sharpness of the edges...(?) |
although its hand held at 1/30/sec, i don't know why that particular area is blurrier than the rest. i've looked at other shots and don't see a particular pattern of softness in that area, especially noticable in the trees. maybe the gusty wind, and the water on my lens is the reason? having said all that, the jury is still out on this lens(17-35). |
actually, that kitchen shot also looks life there are parts of the left side that seemed less sharp, or have those blurrier edges. what aperture were u at? did you shoot wide open? |
f/5 on the graveyard, ISO 160.it's a 2.8 lens, so not quite wide open. i've owned 2 different 17-40 L zooms and i wasn't happy with either of them either. same thing, trees/leaves are a real good subject for testing wide lens sharpness i'm finding. i'll keep trying, at least until i've shot some good weather, brighter shots. |
haven't really had a chance to take the 8mm out but got a couple random shots here and there http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5122/...1489bbe4_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5210/...f238f9e7_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5201/...e38c5932_z.jpg http://usedcarpics.s3.amazonaws.com/...3640277_18.jpg |
^ nice shots, especially that last one. you should get in tighter for the exterior shots to really show off the short focal length :bigthumb: |
