It was hand-held as well while walking my dog. Dog was off leash though. He's actually behind the tree/bushes on the right. You can't see him anyways. hah

I'd say too much.

Euro, i'm gonna have to agree that's a bit overdone. Colors are too unreal, and saturated. I'd tone it down a bit if possible. Very cool looking area though!

european 02-08-2011 09:33 PM

Dammit!! I'll never get it right! :( Everytime I do an HDR I shoot while the sun is setting so I get some colour. I want some red around the clouds though, so I play around with the channel mixer but when I pull the reds up a bit everything else gets that saturated look and thats when it looks gay. I'll play around more until I get the perfect feel for it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. :)
Maybe I should start selecting only the areas I want and play around but with landscape like that its though getting in every corner perfectly.

eugg, is that from today's sunset? It was so beautiful. I tried snapping a few but I only had my GoPro Hero HD with me didn't turn out so great though.

Well, we've been doing "Therapy Dog" volunteering with our pups since December... finally got our proper uniforms! These are just some quick shots I snapped off this evening...

This is by no means a perfect HDR, its only 3 shots per slide, and 3 slides. I think it turned out quite well though. I've posted this image here before.

Hey it's a great photo, but just had some mixed feelings about it. In my humble opinion, HDR should be used to make photos that are 'surrealistic', and photos that have a 'dreamlike' quality to them. The photo borders on the unrealistic, which I think detracts from the photo.

TL DR: a tad overdone. I'm in no position to be a critique, but those are my thoughts none the less!

moky 02-09-2011 11:54 AM

^^ the noise in the clouds appear to be compression from facebook (?)

No doubt. The only other choice is the Sigma 8-16mm.

Thanks man. Coming from you, means a lot! Yea, I believe the noise is from the shitty FB compression. I should host elsewhere, but FB is just convenient :D.

Was taken at ISO200.

sweet composition and image! bit dark in the buildings is the only thing. But good tone mapping, very natural and cant really tell it's HDR. The way it should be!

Photo roadtrips are probably my favorite things ever. Any millionaires on RS want to sponsor roadtrip? :D I do have some thoroughly researched photospots in the USA :D.

Hopefully this year I'll be able to visit some cool places and show you guys some good images. If ppl haven't been on roadtrips before, you are missing out! We are lucky to live so close to so many amazing spots here in North America. It's definitely refreshing to shoot some scenery outside of Vancouver.

Unlimited possibilities:
