The world is so big, and so little time and money it seems. I have a list longer than i can think of places in the world that i would love to go to. So all these pictures that you've posted, are they recent or over the past few months/years? Thanks again for posting your experiences.
I've met SO MANY people that are like.. "Dude, I worked my youth away and I regret it. Now I have all this money, I can't really do the things that I want because I'm old" etc. The world IS very big and I have a huge list of things to do and locations to photograph before I die. The pics I post are mix of recent or old. If they're old, I just haven't gotten around to uploading them etc. If you truly want to visit those places then definitely go for it. A lot of ppl think that travelling is expensive but it really isn't. With rent being $1,000 and a couple hundred dollars a month in groceries, spending a month in a place like Malaysia or thailand, you could live like a king for $15 a day.

Money, Time, and Energy. Pick two eh? When we're young we have time and energy to travel, but no money. When you're working you have Money and Energy, but no time. When you're retired, you have all the money and time in the world, but you're too damn old. So the best time to do it is now

On my list of near-future to do's is:
-Roadtrip the Australian Outback and New Zealand
-Visit South Korea and Japan and eat their delicious foods
-Road Trip the non-touristy islands of Hawaii and Camp and Bike
-West Coast Trail

Hopefully I can show you guys some cool pictures when those happen.

To be honest, I kinda used to be like you, lusting after material objects and stuff. You might not be able to 'touch' a memory, but you can't really use all your lens at the same time. The act of taking a photo is preserving a memory so there is some inherent value in memories.

One day if I had grandkids, and they asked me about something cool I did, I'd rather tell them about some crazy adventure I had, then show them a few photos, than telling them about how I worked my ass off to save for some blinging L-lensthat I picked up.

Hey didn't you do a road trip to Tulameen and visited some things? Did you enjoy that?

I'm confused when you said you hate travelling, but you have many places int he world you'd like to go to? Doesn't that contradict? Or do you mean you hate the process of getting from A to B, but enjoy the actual destination itself?

Do you have a huge collection of lenses? We really are polar opposites... I'm always trying to think of the perfect combo of 2-3lens MAX to own, whereas you are probably an epic collector.

I don't really lust after things...I just would rather buy something or just put my money in the bank than spend $2000+ on a plane ticket to wherever. I have been to Japan, Banff, Toronto, Las Vegas (hated it) & Calgary many times, but all of the trips were never on my coin. I hate the packing, preparation & the hassle of just getting to the destination. I enjoy the destinations with the exception of Vegas - I went because Beau Photo paid for me to go to WPPI. The conference and trade show was amazing, but I spent most of the time in my hotel room.

I did go to Tulameen, but I drove, and the trip only cost about $300 total. I just threw in a change of clothes into a bag and that was it - no passport, traveller's cheques, etc. I have an interest in abandoned mining towns, so I went to check them out.

Did you miss that shot I took of my camera gear? Everything is mine except for the 500mm f4:

I wish I was ballin so I can travel and buy two new lens, tripod, laptop, and new camera body.
Gotta have to start parting out my car, bring it back to stock and sell. I'll be lucky to get 2K for it.

Anyways, here's another crappy photo. It's ok. My woodpecker photo didn't turn out the way I want it so I'll have to try again and again and again until he comes 4 feet in front of me.

You seem down on photography a bit. Don't be! You made great images and post alot which is alot more than some others do. The picture that you posted is great! Love the greens, and the textures on the tree's! Would love to see a bit more dense'ness in the forest if possible.

Look what the friendly courier dropped off today! I was going to play with it, but Leica FORGOT TO INCLUDE A FUCKING BATTERY!!!

Size-wise, it's comparable to the Hasselblad, but it feels much better to hold.

This is what a $30,000 paper-weight looks like....

The aperture is controlled by the rear thumb dial like on Nikon or Sony DSLR bodies. This is a totally new system unrelated to the 35mm 'R' cameras. It's a 37.5MP full frame medium format sensor.

interesting for Leica! all the ones i've played with always had the aperture ring on the lens (digilux2, digilux 3, DMR/R-bodies) and i loved how simple their camera designs were.

that diopter adjustment looks pretty serious as well!
