First time doing an HDR

I have no Idea wtf is going on the right side of the photo. Maybe the aperature wasn't small enough, or maybe it happens when you turn the camera sideways with a 10-22 on it :P

What defines an HDR photo? Several exposures combined into one? New terms these days.

Yes. And it usually involves tonemapping, as the hdr is impossible to save as a jpeg or something.

The one I posted was 5 exposures.

Apparently I should use 2 for a better result.

I think this is a great shot, but the Moon would have been better if it wasn't over-exposed.

...and it's called the "Fairmont Hotel Vancouver," not "Vancouver Hotel." ;)

dub.dub 10-06-2006 08:56 AM

i like the hotel vancouver shot as well ramir :)

[azn angel] 10-06-2006 11:27 AM

you're compression is too high on those JPG's. Look at the artifacting that's happening around the anti-aliased edges.

this shot would have been perfect if you did a double exposed and overlayed them. one exposure for the moon so it's not overexposed like above. and another exposure for the building/sky. actually, now that i look at it, the building's also over exposed.

ramir 10-06-2006 11:55 AM

ok guys thanks for feedback, really helps a lot... i will work on it when i get the chance again

ColinK 10-07-2006 01:13 PM

went for a hike today. These panos this small don't really do them any justice tho. They look at LOT better in high res and I ended up making it to the top quite a bit later than I had hoped so the air wasn't as cool and the sun was higher :(

Mananetwork 10-07-2006 01:28 PM

The pano turned out really nicely. Good colours too. What program did you use?

ColinK 10-07-2006 01:34 PM

^ Panorama Factory and then some minor editing in photoshop. It's definatly the best panorama program that I've ever used. You can even export the pano in .psd format all separated into layers etc! :)

ckrieg: cool panaroma.

majin: that last shot looks too flat.

Meowjin 10-07-2006 09:11 PM

I don't really know how to work with black and white photos.

So by flat you mean I should up the contrast?

And btw whistler was a really really dull overcast. Not the good type of overcast.
