yeah, like i said, there wasn't much of that. good full shots were not even possible because there were so few. also, my 200x CF card slowed me down a lot, bring a fast card so you can capture more images.

btw, we were right behind the North Van Auto Mall, i call it Dog Shit Park, no idea what the official name is. good view from there though.

i think fireworks, by themselves, are more like trial and error and not too hard to do.

the really amazing ones incorporate cityscape and landscapes with them. i think senna or someone else showed a couple of those from the Olympics.

Moky - really like the second shot, nice strong tones which I tend to like. As for the first, you reeeeeally need to stop doing "HDR" processing, its killing the photos. That shot would have been fine without the effects

That doesn't look that "HDR". It looks like he might've played around with the curves to pull out the shadows...

I might be wrong though....

moky 07-05-2011 08:44 PM

actually, it's not hdr :/ i just selected certain parts of the photo and used curves, levels and saturation

77civic1200 07-05-2011 08:45 PM

Look at the shadows from the trees, see what side they are on? the buildings would have been pretty dark in the original if he was getting that exposure from the sky. Thats why they look so muted and have a purple tinge to them
