I haven't tried it but Pentax has an Astrotracer GPS module for the K-5 which moves the sensor with the stars much like a motorized equatorial mount.

I'll most likely go when the next big meteor shower occurs, and only if it's a clear, moonless night.

Interesting, but as it moves the sensor and not the camera, you won't be able to do very long exposures.

I suppose it would depend partly on the focal length, but 100+ seconds isn't a problem.
