Love this photo!! Great composition.

Playing around with the photos, it seems like D800 + 400mm + 1.7x = 680mm worked better than a 60D + 500mm + 2x *1.6 crop factor, 1600mm.

The monstrous 36MP just seems to capture more detail!

nice David, your second shot of the Lions Gate Bridge, what viewpoint was that?

Somewhere up in the British Properties..... I don't remember what road it was, but it was down the street from my friend's friend's house.. haha

my moon shot was with the 60D, the city shots was with the D800, I just went panning around the photos zoomed in and seeing what buildings were in the photo =D

the 2x softened the photos quite a bit. I experimented with my own 1.7x TC and it came out with sharper photos, with more detail even after the crop.

Only had my CF card so I didn't get to try the 60D or the D800....

Well never mind then! Must have been my technique or maybe I didn't use fast enough shutter speed or focus correctly. I think it was 1/1000, but at those focal lengths it probably wasn't enough! Your moonshot was stunning, maybe I should stuck around longer to check out your technique!

Matsuda 05-07-2012 12:08 AM

you know what, there wasn't much technique, I could barely figure out how to use the dirty Canon! lol I basicly aimed it at the moon and underexposed for maybe 1 or 2 stops.
