http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...p/DSC08019.jpg Ok, so I really did not throw it away. Haha. I was going to keep it as a second/back-up body, but the 5D2 just felt so primitive & archaic after handling the 5D3 that I left it on my bedroom floor for about 2 weeks before selling it. It's a much more responsive camera than the 2 ever was, and the improvements in the AF system alone made it a no brainer. Actually, Canon Canada giving me a hell of a sweet deal to keep me from switching over to Nikon sealed the deal. :) Overall image quality hasn't improved that much (compared to the 5D2) up to 1600 ISO, but it is better in the high ISO range for sure. It does exhibit some red channel noise striations when you lift the shadows, but that has also been improved over the 2. The Nikon D800 blows it away in image quality (at least in how much detail you can pull out of the shadows & highlights without noise becoming a problem) up to 1600 ISO though - then the 5D3 takes over, it seems from my personal testing. I still think the new Nikon bodies have slightly more accurate AF tracking. |
Nice review. For pro bodies though, it really seems the 1Dx is far better than the D4. |
