I've got the pics looking the way I'd like on my monitor... maybe I do need to calibrate it.

What's a good resource to help get it right?

What a horrible critique.
Did you read what I wrote above?

What is the better composition? And why would it be better than the current one?

Come on guys, put some thought and effort into the critiques.

Welcome to the Photo Lab's Snapshot of the Day thread Mrk 2: The Daily Showcase

In this new and evolved thread, you are given the opportunity to share your best image of the day. Instead of displaying mere "snapshots," you are encouraged to showcase your finest work and allow the rest of us to pick it apart.

The purpose is to maintain a constant surge of visual appeal in the forum, and encourage constructive dialogue on the images.

The only rule is that you should not exceed posting three pictures per day (if you would like to share more, you are encouraged to start a new thread). The reason we will be enforcing this rule is because we are here to share and learn, not compete. Please critique accordingly and appropriately.

To start us off, here is a shot of the London Eye:

Well, this is where I was supposed to be after that workshop yesterday, and luckily I did manage to get there on time...

This is one of my cousins' youngest kid, he looked a little happier on the cameras LCD screen, but I decided to do very little work off camera. So, here he is:

Edit: Ewww. JPEG compression is not nice to me...

Jomo 07-03-2006 12:55 PM

Just out of curiosity, why is everyone complaining about jpeg compression lately?

Gopher 07-03-2006 01:01 PM

Well, in my case, it was that my colors were much more saturated and the image itself was much sharper...

And Jomo: Does this one look better exposed?
