What gear are you using PowerOn? Your photos seem to be a bit out of focus.

For the landscape photo, I would've used a smaller aperture to get more depth of field. Something like f/8 to f/11.

For the bird photo, it looked like your camera focused somewhere else rather than the bird (a con of letting your camera AF). For those situations, I'd use single area AF. I'm not sure what it's called on Canon, but you manually select an AF point on your viewfinder. I'd probably use a larger aperture like f/3.

For the landscape, I used f8 as people say it is the "sweet spot" for the kit lens.
How do I choose to use anything from f/8 to f/11? It looks the same to me on the camera's screen.

For the the bird one, I used the lowest I could go when I zoom in my lens, which was f5.6. I used the single area AF too.

Hmm, weird. The photos have this soft look to me. Might just be the kit lens being soft at f/5.6 or camera shake then.

Your newer photos look great though!

Some days when I don't want to get up from bed. I'll just dick around with my camera.

Experimenting with the Nikkor1 10-30, pretty inexperienced so my attempts at manual focusing can be pretty random.

It might just be camera shake and/or your lens. It seems to be pretty soft especially at 55mm (28mm to 35mm is the sharpest), hence why your bird photo was a bit blurry.

A bit hard to tell why your photos are blurry. If you have a tripod, then you can tell if it's camera shake or not.

This picture reminds me of why I like photography in the first place. Capturing the essence of being there that day.

Was an amazing day!

The carnival is back! All shot with the Sigma 35mm, most at 1.8, some wide open at 1.4. The light trails were on a tripod for a few seconds.

For flickr hosted photos, go to the size you want to share, right click the image - copy image location. Then on revscene click the insert image button and paste it in there.

I'd do it for you, but I'm not sure which image you were trying to share
