What gear are you using PowerOn? Your photos seem to be a bit out of focus.

For the bird photo, it looked like your camera focused somewhere else rather than the bird (a con of letting your camera AF). For those situations, I'd use single area AF. I'm not sure what it's called on Canon, but you manually select an AF point on your viewfinder. I'd probably use a larger aperture like f/3.

How do I choose to use anything from f/8 to f/11? It looks the same to me on the camera's screen.
For the the bird one, I used the lowest I could go when I zoom in my lens, which was f5.6. I used the single area AF too.

Your newer photos look great though!

Some days when I don't want to get up from bed. I'll just dick around with my camera.

A bit hard to tell why your photos are blurry. If you have a tripod, then you can tell if it's camera shake or not.

This picture reminds me of why I like photography in the first place. Capturing the essence of being there that day.
Was an amazing day!

For flickr hosted photos, go to the size you want to share, right click the image - copy image location. Then on revscene click the insert image button and paste it in there.
I'd do it for you, but I'm not sure which image you were trying to share
