Heres a x100s shot

My reasons for wanting a X100S...

1. The retro looks would get no attention in today's world, making it a perfect street camera. Walk around with a film camera and you're ignored. Walk around with a DSLR and you get funny looks.

2. The image sensor has a unique quality to it, something I haven't seen since film. I can't explain it but that sensor has a look I haven't seen on any other camera.

3. 35mm fixed fast lens is probably the best all around lens. I've always found 50 a little long most of the time.

1 + 3 are the reasons I picked up the EOS M on sale. Absolutely no complaints for $300.

when i saw these guys, i thought squirrel. but wait, they don't act like squirrels. curious and somewhat bold, they hammed it up for me. typical Marmot behaviour.

I don't mind playing this game. This picture is a picture that almost everyone in Vancouver with a camera has taken. So I would say, take it from another angle, or go at sunrise with the sun behind or something that people don't see very often. Also, I personally like fluffy clouds in pictures, and if you can get them moving with a long shutter speed it makes it look awesome.

I really don't think there is much more with the picture that you could have done, its nice. Just try to have a different take on it someway, somehow.

Don't worry. We all take that picture. Sometimes more than once. I did a pano a page or two back.

If there are no clouds, I like shooting at twilight, which is the period 20-30 minutes after sunset. Colors are extremely saturated, building lights start to come on, and the boring cloudless sky has so many tones and areas of light and dark. I took one a few pages back of a driftwood stump and a harbor shack in Victoria that was at twilight. Not much done to the colors and the sky was like a Neapolitan ice cream with red, pink, blue, purple and no sun in the horizon. It trips people out.

You'll need a tripod and, for the best effect, ND and grad ND filters but the look, especially if you get lucky and lights start coming on while the sky is still pretty bright, is pretty surreal. People ask if its HDR and you'll say no. :)

Just made a massive BH/Amazon order in preparation for my London/Scandinavia/St. Petersburg/Iceland trip in a couple weeks. Travel tripod, ND fader, extra batteries, stepping rings, filter olders, and a intervelometer for timelapse!

I wish that one dude wasn't sitting in front of all my pics but gotta deal with the crowds, I guess.

Some cameras - and particularly camera apps for phones/tablets - have an option to place lines on the screen to mark the thirds.
