I'll be the first to ask, but where was that location Senna? Also, awesome pictures, and super models! Thanks for posting! |
Looks like the same old ferry I saw on that show, Canadian Pickers. Some old guy bought it and has a ton of junk on it too, out in Mission. Posted via RS Mobile |

It was a great opportunity to shoot something you don't see everyday. |
Was going to go but tickets were sold out by the time I looked :( Posted via RS Mobile |

One of the assistants and I went down into the engine room and took a few shots - the last log entry was in November, 2000. I couldn't believe the size of the engines! More to come. |

^^^ Putting that D600 dynamic range to good use, I see! The more I shoot with the D800E, the more I dislike my 5DmkIII... |
Talk about a first world problem! |

That was a view I was pretty familiar with haha! |
I'm getting ready to go travelling and am starting to look at some options beyond my much loved 6D for something a little less intimidating and conspicuous for street shooting. After playing with Mashimaro's Leica M9, I was pretty hooked and really wanted my own. They are not easy to come by and I have been keeping my eyes open for a good one at a halfway reasonable price in excellent condition for the last month or so, a few have sold since I have been looking and they sell so fast it is astonishing! I finally was able to pick up an immaculate body last week and have been waiting on a lens to go with it - a Voigtlander Nokton 1.5 50mm in brass with chrome finish. It finally arrived so of course I had to take some test shots! These are really impromptu just taken in my backyard so please excuse the relatively boring photos but just really wanted to take some shots and see what this newly released lens can do! These are all jpegs straight out of the camera resized to 2048px in Lightroom with no other adjustments, and all wide-open at F/1.5 unless otherwise noted. (They have EXIFs but these are not accurate aside from shutter speed) https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...05026491_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...13291388_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...70344425_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...70522332_o.jpg Definitely has a "dreamy" look and some very nice colours. However, stopped down to F/2 can be pretty crazy sharp: https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...74171357_o.jpg Of course need some obligatory photos of the gear itself! https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...77206913_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.n...52785106_o.jpg |
Glad you found a mint M9! Shots turned out great and that lens is producing some awesome results! Posted via RS Mobile |

whats the key in getting a good shot of the stars and keeping things such as the trees in that shot in the foreground in focus? i've been having a hell of a time getting anything but super blur in my foreground trying to shoot stars ie. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2886/9...845bfffc_h.jpg is there too much light in my foreground? |
^^^ With that shot, everything is out of focus. Use live view to focus on the stars. You won't get both house and stars in focus with a DSLR. |
so use live view then manually select the star portion for my focal points? edit* So i'm a noob and didnt even know/utilize live view before, seems like a huge tool i could of been using lol :( anyways, just shoot manual in live view change my settings accordingly? would you shoot stars on manual focus focused on infinity? when in infinity and live view how do you ensure one or the other of the objects in the pic ie. stars are focused? |
You can see if the stars are in focus if in live view. Don't just focus to infinity because the stars will be out of focus if you're off by a little bit. It may be difficult to MF in live view with lenses that are not at least f2.8 though. |
