Sunny I don't know what it is, but I swear there is something weird going on in your monitor or something. Every single one of your photos has such a strange processing effect to it, I can't put my finger on why it is, but it is robbing your photos of impact - they look like they have no blacks, they always appear grey to me. Does anybody else have this effect? Everybody else's photos look normal to me, i.e. the sun directly above this post.

it's not your monitor lowside, it's my choice of processing (not everyones cup of tea). almost all photos I've taken in 2014 have been processed with a low contrasts look. i push the blacks up to the point where they start to turn grey. if you take a look at my flickr page, you will see that all my photos prior to 2014 have the "normal look" to them. low contrast is a love or hate thing, i have had many people compliment the look and many complained lol. i think i am i done with the low contrast look for now and will go back to my old processing ways. thanks for your input though, i really appreciate it. :)

VSCO?

A lot of people rag on it and say it's cheating, but meh.. whatever floats your boat. I use it, but I don't over use it.

Ahh I see, I didn't know it was intentional. I didn't mean to offend, I honestly thought it was a processing problem. For me, it's not really my cup of tea, it somehow looks "washed out" to me. Somehow, the photo above just seems to have more "impact", but that's just me. I'm jealous of how much shooting you've been doing lately though haha.

Cheers,
Mark

you didn't offend me mark :). another reason i processed that picture the way i did was because last year i took the same photo from the same spot and processed it with normal colours. if you ever want to meet up somewhere in vancouver to shoot let me know.

It's a film emulator filter/preset for lightroom. Pretty neat stuff!

I noticed this too. I always felt I understood what you were trying to achieve, some sort of film look to the shots, but I found myself thinking that sometimes you should have pulled back a bit and not gone for that type of look for so many of your photos. I like the feel of your photos though and I can usually pick your shots out without knowing they are yours. You can't please everyone every time, God knows I know this myself, but it's good work. Be proud.

i agree that i went too extreme with my processing on the last couple of dozen photos i took. i was getting bored of processing them with the "normal look" and wanted to try different processing technics. do i regret processing them the way i did? nope, i don't. like you said, you can't please everyone, but i have to change things up every once in a while to keep things interesting for myself. thanks for the kind words :)

here are a few photos from today. i think this is more inline with what everyone wants a photo to look like. everyones comments are welcome. good or bad!

Haven't posted in months (if not years, at this point), so I figured I'd post a few shots I currently have access to online, since my desktop is not working right now. Nothing spectacular, especially since they were all shot on a video camera (actually a couple of these are screen grabs :lol). Minimal post, though mostly to convert the file into an actual usable format suitable for uploading online. Everything else was in camera, mostly just playing around with different lenses, filters and making the most of the available lighting around us.

My friend and I got bored one day while on vacation down south, so we shot in our hotel room down in Oregon using nothing but candles or the suite's bedside lights.
