J_____ I shot them with an anamorphic projection lens attached to a canon 135L. This is the setup:

They are photos (not video grabs). Here is a couple more

These are amazing. Where exactly did you get the lens attachment and what is it called. I've seen anamorphic adaptors that are thousands of dollars and I'm curious if this is the same.

Awesome cinematic shots!

^^ this is a Iscorama Ultrastar red lens. It is a projector lens so it is a lot more affordable then a true (very expensive) anomorphic lens but you to have attach it to a taking lens and have to focus both lenses. The lens goes for around $500 and the attachment adapter is another $100 or so. Kinda of a pain to use but photos have a cool look to them.

Had some time so I attended a dance competition in Burnaby. Members of a group called "Twisted Ankles" hosted it, everyone killed it. I was quite surprised at the attendance, the majority was younger groups who danced professionally. Really eye opening to see people that young push their limits already.

Although I know I should avoid doing this, I tend to shoot into the sun a lot for some strange reason (didn't like the lens flare).

awesome! Does the lens just give you a anamorphic crop and you did lots of adjustments to make it cinematic? or did it come out like that straight from the lens?

Thanks. It's not particularly sharp at any aperture. But good enough F2.8 and on.

Nevertheless, I think the nickname of "dream lens" comes from that glow that the lens produces wide open. It's not sharp and not contrasty. But it's unique in its own way.

In comparison, the Leica produces relatively sharp with no glow/softness whatsoever at the same F0.95.

And the focus is quite long. In a sense that the distance you need to turn from minimum-infinity is very long. And I find no problem shooting my son with focus peaking on Noctilux/Noct... but it's a bit troublesome on the Canon. But maybe I haven't gotten used to yet. I hope the experience gets better with time... else, gonna flip it on fleebay...
