Dark sky away from city lights, fast lens (F2.8 or faster), High ISO (3200 - 6400), and 20-30 second exposure (not longer because then the stars look funny). Something like that.

Spotted Lake - close to Osoyoos
Spotted Lake is richly concentrated with various minerals. It contains dense deposits of magnesium sulfate, calcium and sodium sulphates. It also contains high concentrations of eight other minerals and lower amounts of silver and titanium. 
My long exposure of Spotted Lake close Osoyoos. Lee big stopper (10 stops), and a 0.3 ND grad. 540 seconds. Will be coming back in August when its more dried up and can see more colors. Want to get permission from the Indian tribe there to go closer to the lake to get a better view, and a better photo. Not a bad first attempt.

Two photos from Sunday of the Burns Bog fire, the first was shot at 12pm shortly after the fire had started, the second was at 4pm just before the wind shifted north.   | |
