another thing that might cause JPEG compression artifacts is the site that's hosting your pics... they might have a limit to bandwidth so they may cut down the quality of your pics.

otherwise I don't see why one should complain about stuff like that when it can easily be resolved by doing it the proper way.

Plus, I haven't seen any "artifacts" in any of your shots, Andreas, so I'm not too sure why you think it's degrading the quality of your pics.

Either I have a crappy monitor or you guys are simply too paranoid about trivial things. lol

*edit*, a quick USM after resizing usually brings back the sharpness you lost after resizing.

With my pic, it was just that the color saturation went down a whole lot... Its actually probably because I forgot to change color profiles before I saved

as far as I know, if you use Photoshop the default colorspace is AdobeRGB, and when you view a photo saved in that colorspace the colors are usually off and less saturated.

What I've learned is that if you want to use your pics for web, convert to sRGB and save for web, and that usually does the trick in retaining your original colors.

Correct. Convert to sRGB first then tweak the colours you wanna see on the web

Or shoot AdobeRGB because it holds more colours for print.

Totally random pic from yesterday down at Belcarra... I was messing around with something on the cam, accidentally hit the shutter release, and got this shot. I was going to toss it, but for some reason, I decided I liked it, so it stayed.

i know it was an accidental shot, but the fact that the "mid" ground is the only part in focus makes it poor in my opinion, if the closest area was in focus or the farthest, i think you'd have a much better picture.

yes, i know it was an accidental photo, do not take it the wrong way.

Having the farthest area in focus would be even worse.

Bildo: I'm not sure how long you've been shooting, but from the look of those 3 pics, I think you need to play around with Depth of Field. The first one is distracting (for me, anyways) because nothing is sharp, the second is distracting because everything is sharp. As far as the 3rd pic goes, I kind of like that one.
