Is the idea behind this concept easily conceived?

Personally, I would have trouble with this one. It doesn't signal casket to me right away. Maybe a little more manipulation.

Originally I was thinking just a shadow of a cigarette, but I'm thinking it might be too simple.

Or maybe a grave in the shape of a cigarette

Or maybe manipulate the cigarette to be a tombstone with the cigarette label as the words on it...

Maybe it's too simple, but it would give me the clue quicker on the concept.

Thanks J.

All are good ideas.

Back to the drawing board..

Maybe even manipulating the shadows. Have all of them represent the cigarette except the 4th one.

Car Chick 01-30-2007 07:28 PM

okay, im not a pot head.. nor do i actually smoke at all.. but the 4th cigarette totally reminded me of a doobie.

i agree with previous suggestions.. adding something to it would be helpful

77civic1200 01-30-2007 07:44 PM

mmm how about having it as a butt? and I don't mean that as a joke, I mean that as in burn it down, and put it out, make sure its looks authentic though, like have it bent/smothered on the end

MikesJo 01-30-2007 08:38 PM

Salar, I think it works but to me it looks like a englarged lung :). So in a sense it works.

Mugenz, nice wide angle shots there!

Doc 01-30-2007 09:32 PM

So basically it looks like everything else except what it was intended to look like... haha, allright.

Thanks guys.

Kyle, that's exactly what I plan on doing tonight!

Cheers,

Nice concept, but the 'coffin' is too elongated, thus it doesn't register as a coffin right away. Maybe fatten it up so it has the proportions of a coffin...?

[azn angel] 01-31-2007 01:13 AM

salar...concept is great, it only lacks in the execution. the coffin needs some depth and proportions adjusted. i'd suggested getting the image of the coffin and overlaying it to match it.

haha that was my first guess, and then i looked under the image where he says what it "should" be...

unit 01-31-2007 09:47 AM

maybe have 5 cigarettes with the fourth cigarette having a shadow that is a cross instead of just a straight line? you may have to move the subjects further back on the canvas to acheive this affect. just an idea

Gopher 01-31-2007 12:06 PM

Salar, my suggestion would be to keep the work "die" in black, but make the fourth cigarette an actual casket, but maybe with the small label in the same spot on it.

Doc 01-31-2007 01:58 PM

Thanks everyone. I've thoroughly enjoyed and learned from all the helpful comments. I wish we could get the same level of participation for every photo that is posted.

It's fascinating how many different ideas people can have on the same concept.

77civic1200 01-31-2007 03:19 PM

Umm what am I missing? why is the last photo a faux pas?

ColinK 01-31-2007 03:22 PM

i thought about that too, but if you do that, you'd be excluding all non-christians.

Meowjin 01-31-2007 03:43 PM

how about a burnt and shrivvled ciggerate?

77civic1200 01-31-2007 03:50 PM

You mean like I suggested and Doc already said he was planning on doing? ya sounds like a great idea, glad you thought of it =)
