Skimboarding. I know i've taken some time off from the site...been planning my move out of vancouver in january... but for the time being, i've been beaching it up EVERYDAY...well when there is sun. but as the title states. who rocks the skim skimmah's? |
I don't rock at it, but have tried it a few times. Its pretty killer, lol. |
ahh pictures. it pays to be at the beach before the hoards of people show up. http://www.hostmypiconline.com/images/07220004.JPG http://www.hostmypiconline.com/images/07220005.JPG http://www.hostmypiconline.com/images/07220006.JPG http://www.hostmypiconline.com/images/07220007.JPG http://www.hostmypiconline.com/images/07220008.JPG http://www.hostmypiconline.com/images/07220009.JPG http://www.hostmypiconline.com/images/07220010.JPG http://www.hostmypiconline.com/images/07220013.JPG the first 4 shots are my buddy, he's only been skimboarding a grand total of 4 hours.....i always tend to de-virginize the skimboarders out there now. the last 4 shots are me.....meh, i've been doing it long enough ;) |
I see how it is. if the sports not trendy enough, y'all dont know what to say in reply. so looking at the thread is the best option :P |
Haha, yeah I'm surprised there isn't many people posting. Skimboarding is actually pretty fun. Takes awhile to pick up at first but every slip and fall is worth it. |
if anyone is interested, i do have three skimboards, and i am going to the beach every day from tuesday onwards. post here if anyone is interested |
Yeah i have yet to try it. although i picked up a skimboard so i'm going to give it a try this weekend, hopefully the tide is low when i'm out there. So how do you do it. from what i've seen just run, throw the board down and jump on it and take it from there. any tips you can give me |
run, DROP, slide. dont throw, dont run and throw, you will over run and chances are you will over slide the area you wanna rock its really not as simple to pick up like snowboarding. but keep in mind the best places to skim are always in water that barely covers your feet. http://www.tides.info/?command=view&location=vancouver this is a good site for a general idea of when the tides are high and low |
Dang, wish I had more time to get out there to skim!!! Here's a couple pix from last year.. skimmin' comp: http://www.remedee.com/Skimming/imag...ming%20019.jpg buddy slidin' on his ass http://www.remedee.com/Skimming/imag...ming%20079.jpg and me: http://www.remedee.com/Skimming/imag...ming%20116.jpg http://www.remedee.com/Skimming/imag...ming%20125.jpg and doing some trickin' on the beach http://www.remedee.com/Skimming/imag...ming%20137.jpg |
I've been beaching it everday since Friday and see a lot of people Skimming in at Whiterock Beach.. looks awsome..i tried it once 5 years ago and it is FUN but none of my friends are into the beach and stuff. Nice pics btw. |
I havent been skimming once this year, or last sadly :( August is looking good for tides this year though so I'm hoping to hit it up on a weekend (working weekdays). |
