aznsir: honestly..to me it tastes about the same..its just my friend mentioned it and she thinks it tastes different.
so i just brought it up here.

Obsideon 07-27-2007 09:41 PM

I sound so repetitive, but ya different strokes for different folks :\

Anyways just so you all know I have a new Chef's Special menu that will be running for probably these few months that just started today with some really tasty new things like Kobe Beef roll, Cream Cheese Gyozas and old favourites like the Baked Snow Crab, etc.

Come check it out, try'em and tell me what you think! I'd appreciate some feedback! :D

I've never been to Ebisu b/c I don't like going downtown. I just noticed an Ebisu just openend up near my gf's apartment in Richmond. Is the menu the same?

I'm gonna assume the Richmond location will have more "chinese" style dishes as opposed to the downtown location

SlayerS_`BoxeR` 07-29-2007 09:19 PM

Hmm...went there today for lunch and I must say...the quality for Dinner is a LOT better than lunch...

The yakisoba + chicken teriyaki was REALLY salty....

I wouldn't go back for lunch =) BUT however~ I will keep coming back for Dinner =)

Ch28 07-29-2007 10:51 PM

My gf's family went down to Ebisu for dinner Friday night and they all agreed that the chicken karaage was one of the best they've had.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time! 07-29-2007 11:00 PM

whoa what?! did i miss something?! since when was there an EBISU in Richmond?! frick if there's a closer one i'm for sure going to visit there instead of having to tote my ass downtown everytime

afro1314 07-30-2007 08:29 PM

went to ebisu finally today after being outta town all the time.

Food was pretty good except i find that the food a bit on the oily side.
had the oyster motoyaki, thunder fries, tofu w/ calamari, unagee roll, salmon caponocci(sp?) and three raw oysters.
maybe it was because we ordered the wrong foods, but yea, a tad too much oil in the motoyaki, therefore the oil just filled us right up.

i think maybe u were short on staff? I was waiting by the door for about 4-5 mins and the whole time (staff noticed we were there), i just see staff walking back and forth bringing out food, maybe at least tell me to wait a moment and someone will be there to assist me? drinks/food coming a bit slow, and i'm talking abt a glass of water i had wait at least 10 mins for.
but like i said, it was just probably you short of staff.

BUT...overall....great atmosphere, great food, some pretty gd service (well, when they came along) and price was decent. I didn't find it THAT expensive as some ppl has mentioned, will definitely go again, perhaps this week..LOL!!

Ch28 07-30-2007 09:38 PM

You ordered oyster motoyakis and you're complaining about the oil? http://smiliesftw.com/x/hsugh.gif

Slif 07-30-2007 09:55 PM

wow. the Ebisu in Richmond is 3 blocks away from where I live. the Ebisu in downtown is 3 blocks from where I work.

just a "tad" bit on the oily said, but IT'S STILL GOOD!

Jermyzy: Ch28 is almost dead on. About half the menu is the same as the Robson location but the other half has been modified to cater more to the Richmond demographic whereas D/T has a much more diverse crowd.

SlayerS_`BoxeR`: A brand new lunch menu has been set with my dinner chefs. It will be out soon to replace the much too basic and boring current one so don't write us off yet! :p (We were short on kitchen staff.)

CSKC-7: LOL yeah but keep in mind it's just, not the same. The whole D/T vibe as suppose to Richmond. Richmond is, well, Richmond. ;)

afro1314: Haha well dang Oyster Motoyaki is practically baked IN oil and we give you the bread to dip into the sauce! (not for the faint of heart, or you health freaks) :p
Thunder Fries: Deep fried sweet potatoe ... that's kinda oily..
Spicy Calamari: Deep fried calamari on top of Deep fried tofu ... more oil..
Unachee: Deep fried Unagi and cream cheese roll ... wow you really like deep fried stuff! :D
Salmon Carpaccio: Ah you tried the new menu special! The salmon is first marinated in a sauce that has virgin olive oil as one of the ingredients ... so.. um.. :(
Raw Oysters: If that had oil in it I'm gonna have to fire somebody
Well from the looks of it you DID have a pretty greasy meal. I think I would be bloated too after all that deep fried stuff, try some of the sushi an' grilled meat or some seafood next time! :)

Slif: Yes I'm stalking you. Brainwashing you to have Ebisu burnt into your mind! :evil

afro1314 07-31-2007 07:24 AM

hmm...i wonder if reservations are allowed on fireworks night???

LC21 08-01-2007 12:23 AM

S17 08-01-2007 09:37 PM

been there wayyyy too much the past 2 weeks...i don't think i'm gonna go to ebisu this week...hurts the wallet haha

Peanut Butter Jelly Time! 08-02-2007 10:43 PM

true, the whole crowd in rmd and dt would be completely different, but for convenience sake i would have to go to rmd, for atmosphere of course i'd choose dt... how how about giving me the address eh?

iceburner 08-04-2007 07:32 AM

I just went there yesterday. The Power of Love Roll and Crunch of Munch was pretty good. The Love Machine had too much mayo though.

My friend thought the waistress, Judy, was cute.

I asked her if Deon was there. I don't think she knew who that was tho =P

S17 08-04-2007 12:10 PM

Yo deon thanks for getting us a seat and for taking our orders over the phone...now that's some great service haha.

The yakisoba was really good last night. The other time my friend ordered it it was a bit different tasting.

Mugen EvOlutioN 08-05-2007 08:08 AM

Klobbersaurus 08-08-2007 10:46 PM

i don't expect them to be hired on experience but to be properly trained and polite should be the bare minimum. to have your dinner served when everyone else at the table has finished their meal is ridiculous and to give attitude when asked about it is even worst.
