I used to daily a black Citizen Eco Drive, then I moved into parts advising, and didn't want to damage the face because of how much my hands move when shifting stock. I heard that the G-Shock DW-5600 was the AK-47 of watches, and found out that even after conversion it was cheaper by a few dollars on Amazon's US website compared to Amazon Canada. So far, I'm super happy with the fact that it's lighter, and can take the abuse.

Ah damn it. I think I got bit with the g shock bug.

Added another g shock to my collection. Got the g9000ms1 the mudman.

I think I'm gonna start a collection of ms g shocks lol.

Being curse with a tiny wrist though I feel like the g9000 is probably the biggest size g shock I can comfortably rock... Although I really really like the look and function of the rangeman.

Any other g shock recommendation for me to waste my money on? Something comparable in size to the g9000 and dw5600? Looking to get into solar and atomic now. How does the old riseman compare in size?

Kind of a bitch to have to read the dates in kanji though. Unless you're native to the language. :heckno:

Nice! Where did you pick up the G-Shock G9000MS Mudman??

You're right, the Rangeman is hunky and big. But do go for the Riseman, it's relatively small and is an excellent all-rounder. Look for ones that goes for around 120... eBay sellers started jacking up the prices the last little while on them..

Cheers,

Another model you can take a look at is the G9100 Gulfman.

the riseman MS version or the one that skinnypupp has, what would be a reasonable price for them?

The one that skinnypupp and I both own is the "GW-9200MBJ Riseman"
-It's an unicorn now and hard to procure. There's one currently on eBay going for around $450 CAD right now. Sure, it's a tad expensive, but it's a desirable watch afterall..
-Note, casio officially called that watch the Men In Mat Black series, but ebay sellers often spell it as Men in MATTE Black, so the search engine may churn out different results depending how you search for it...

An alternative version you can take a look at is the G-9200MS-8DR Riseman- Men In Rusty Black, going for around $250 CAD

Anyone have experience with Oris watches?

MindBomber 06-14-2015 07:07 PM

I've been curious about Oris watches as well, particularly the Aquis; I quite like the design and the quality is said to be strong for the price point. It would be great to read a review of the brand from an RS'er.

nabs 06-14-2015 07:32 PM

Oris watches are great for every day wear. Price point is great. Good build quality. Not a fake brand.

6793026 06-14-2015 08:05 PM

i've always wanted to get this Oris. However, due to the lack of brand recognition and such, i have yet to see someone wear a Oris regulator let alone any Oris itself.
http://www.unfinishedman.com/wp-cont...-Tubbataha.jpg

For the last 10 yrs, i've only seen 1 person with an Oris watch.

bcrdukes 06-14-2015 08:39 PM

I only ask because I noticed some heavy sponsorship for the factory Audi LMP1 team cars in WEC.

The brand itself doesn't have much history or heritage as compared to lets say Rolex and TAG Heuer when it comes to motorsports. I can only assume their movements are from ETA but I'm unsure of the build quality/materials. Have yet to meet anyone who wears / owns an Oris. They're pretty tough to find on forums as well.

Ah well. :)

hi-revs 06-15-2015 12:39 AM

Oris is legit. Definitely quality to the touch.
Go down to Time&Gold(local dealer) downtown to check some out.

Sid Vicious 06-15-2015 09:03 AM

got this the other week. 10/10

Thanks for that. I didn't know Time and Gold was an authorized dealer.

I just looked at their watches online - can't say anything particularly grabs my attention. Oh well. :)

Fossil! Such good watches..

mk1freak 06-21-2015 06:06 PM

I have an oris.

Had for 7+years maybe more, thought I had lost it until I saw the father in law wearing it one day. Even after his abuse the watch only needed to be recalibrated and checked. I only bought it back then as all my buddies were buying watches like rolex and breitling but I wanted something different. I appreciate it more now than when I bought it. Definitely a good watch and would recommend. Sadly, the styles now don't do anything for me, but I did see a few good ones while window shopping in Europe.

joquio 06-21-2015 09:59 PM

After going through 50+ different watches (collecting/hobby), this is the only watch I have left now besides my work watch (Suunto Core). Some of their models are really nice and you get a lot of value. Mainly their diver's and pilot watches.
