I recently bought a watch, still in transit/shipping.

I bought this:

With coupon code, it ended up being ~160 CAD with free shipping.

Debated for a while whether to get the Black or the Blue faced. Ended up with black. I think blue is harder to match with my clothes (although I often wear dark blue dress shirts ;s)

I don't know too much about watches... but I thought this looked pretty nice. Looks more expensive than it actually is... but that's just my opinion :P
The last time (pun somewhat intended) I wore a watch was back in high school. A cheap sub ten dollar Timex. It took a lickin' and kept on tickin'.

I received a retirement watch that sat in a drawer till I stumbled onto this thread a few weeks ago. It's a Bulova Chronograph. Probably not expensive. Never looked at it when I got it until now. I like it. Anyway, the leather strap on it was pretty uncomfortable, so I went to a watch repair place on Hastings near Boundary Road and got me a metal strap. The kind my father had at one time. No buckles or clasps. Just stretch to put on. It is so comfortable now.

Anyway, I saw a Vincero ad pop up on RS while surfing, then saw your post. The blue watch of theirs looks gorgeous. Simple, yet appealing. I would never be a Rolex type of person. A watch is a watch is a watch, to me - until I break it or lose it. Anyway, I signed up to their Vincero Collective and got a 10% off code via e-mail. Is that what you used? I know shipping is free, but did you have to pay anything else on top like duties, brokerage fees? I can always have it shipped to Blaine since I go to Bellingham once a week. Also, how long did you have to wait? Shipping to a US address would be about two days.

Hey, I sent you a PM!

Used the Code "RMRS" (Real Men Real Style). I think that was the code. if not, a quick google of RMRS Vincero should help you find the exact code. It was 20 or 25% off. Can't remember now. So, make sure you use that over the 10% one.

No fees at door (Flex delivery), and arrived within 2 weeks. So, don't bother shipping across border just for this. Unless you want it in 2 days as you say. (I personally don't mind waiting a week or 2)

EDIT: Ok, I just checked RMRS, and it is 15% off only. Still better than 10%... xD my bad!

EDIT2:
Since I'm posting here, I also just ordered another watch from Original Grain.
https://www.originalgrain.com/products/rosewood-watch

I wanted to try something with more silver and a metal strap. If you are interested, I can share my opinions/review on it when I receive it. Original Grain does not ship to PO box though, so kinda annoying.

Well, I ordered a Vincero with a $20.00 discount code I got for referring myself (different e-mail address). As the person referring someone else, I get a $30.00 discount for each person I successfully refer. I was torn between three color/material combinations, so getting two watches makes it a little easier. Damn this thread............ now I want the Original Grain, Gulolol.

Hahaha, you should hold off on getting Original grain.

They have quite a few negative reviews from ~2 years ago. (some minor imperfections or defects). I'm hoping they have improved since then though.

I can update with a quick review after I receive it and wear it for a week or two.

thanks............ they also have a referral plan. You both get 30 bucks off. Not bad, but I'll wait for your review.

I noticed they have a clearance section of watches that are 50% off. I assume those are the defective ones?

Well, whether or not those are defective/returned watches being refurbed or not, I wouldn't know.

But it looks like it is just a holiday sale? So those should be safe.

Luckily(?) the model I bought from them isn't on the 50% sale list, so I don't have to feel dumb paying more for it haha xD (it already shipped this morning)

Going to be getting a Rolex Submariner. Anyone know where I can get it sized? I have a small wrist around 6.5 inch. Do some ADs around here do complimentary sizing even if I didn't get the watch from them? I don't mind paying either if guaranteed no scratches or mess ups.

I'm not getting it locally though, getting it through another AD out of province. I guess I could tell them my wrist size and they'll size it for me. Just in case I need further adjustments.

my bad, didn't realized you got it elsewhere

Just call any AD here and give them a heads up, they might do it for you while you look around for another watch (free of charge).

Haha hope you like it!

I just received my Original Grain watch. They do not ship to PO box, and was charged 36 bucks for import duties etc.

Definitely added to the cost... doesn't seem too worth it anymore :[

I got the g shock rangeman gw9400-1. Was debating between the mudman gw9300 or this. Went with the rangeman. The cheapest store locally is New Type Computers in Yaletown at $275. MEC has it for $295, watchit at $330.

Update: I Wanted a slick all black watch. Ended up with this one and I love it! Perfect watch for work and travel (nicely matches my work-wedding band as well). I've actually gotten more attention from this watch-ring combo than when I wear my seamaster and real band lol.

GW-5000HR. It's basically the square with an "all-metal" case and screwback.

You should get a pretty decent discount at any local stores selling Tag.
First place that comes to mind is Rodeo Jewelers in Oakridge. Ask for George. Hes the older caucasian guy that can generally swing a pretty good deal.

May not be as good of a deal compared to Jomashop which is grey market. But you get the warranty from Tag. Plus exchange rates arent that great right now, so might want to factor that in.

A tip- if the particular watch comes in a bracelet, buy it with the bracelet, then buy the leather strap separately later. Reason being that the bracelet might be harder to source, and it'll be far more expensive to buy later on.
Typical oem bracelets for for about $1000, and leather strap at $450 (rough estimates).
Can also buy good quality aftermarket leather straps for less than $300. Whereas aftermarket bracelets are more "iffy". And will likely cheapen a nicer watch, imho.

Good luck.
