It seems to check off all the boxes of what is just a bit missing from the standard moonwatch: automatic winding, date window, COSC certification. But it seems to go for less than your standard moonwatch.
Doing a bit of research the downsides are the larger 44mm modern speedy size and the debated 3313 movement.
There's one available on CWC and I am tempted...
| Speedy purists would say the "true" moonwatch is the hestalite version. As you mentioned, this also wears 44mm which is larger than the traditional 42mm speedy but just buy and wear the watch that speaks to you the most since you're the one wearing it.
On another note... just picked this up the other day. Will probably sell it since I like the CHNR better |

There's one available on CWC and I am tempted... | Have you looked into the Master Coaxial Speedies? If you want a Speedy with Automatic, Chronometer spec, date, etc, and don't mind the 44.25mm cases. These models are quite attractive, awesome movement, and aren't "trying" as hard to be the original moonwatch.
If you go into the world of master coaxial speedies, then you also have a plethora of choices in terms of dial colors, styles, moonphase complications, etc etc.
I quite like the moonphase models:
Or the Dark side and Gray side models look quite sexy as well :]
Or, you can look at the Speedmaster '57 models with the symmetrical 41.5mm cases with the 9300 movements.

Yeah the grey side of the moon is super nice, but a bit out of my budget and I think I'd still want some sort of 'original' looking Speedmaster, which is why the one on CWC is appealing to me.

So I got bored and decided to cannibalize my omega nato strap that came with my speedy. My aquaterra bracelet was getting scratched up from daily use and now it looks like a brand new watch!!
I thought it turned out great |

Picked up a beat up vintage Rolex 1500 Oyster Date for a steal of price. Spent weeks tracking down and waiting for the authentic parts to arrive such as the crystal, bracelet and vintage box with pillow, etc.
Finally done with the restoration... well almost, needs a trip to Nobert for a service.
Managed to restore the brushed areas with a Bergeon fiberglass scratch pen and 3m pads. These are quite handy if you're anal about fixing scratches on brushed areas of your watch, If you're extremely anal about scratches, use a dremel, cotton buff wheel and Dialux Green and Red polishing compound. It did wonders in terms of bringing back the shine and taking out the smaller scratches. |

Partly because of the lighting but mostly because the old crystal had turned yellowish. Tried polishing the old crystal a bit with polywatch but it still made the dial look a champagne colour.
I didn't discover the true silverish dial colour until I popped off the bezel and old crystal.

Best place for watch resellers I've found. Also I've found the used market to be cheapest here in Hong Kong. If you want I can help you look around.

Was bored. Had some time to kill and decided to buy a dremel and go to town on my snk809.
Always hated that sandblasted finish so I decided to make it shinny with some mother’s mag polish and a dremel.

Bb58 vs sbga283 | It depends on the context. Every day wear? Plan on swimming with it? Wearing it with a suit? etc etc.
There are a few GS watches that are lovely, but I find they are all too big and thick for their style (casual-dressy). I'm also not bought into the hype of zeratsu this zeratsu that.
Personally, I think the BB58 is an awesome watch; especially for a daily wear.

Disregard what I have already in my collection.
Disregard how I would wear it
Just pure watch vs watch.

Pure watch I'd say the GS especially with the Spring Drive.
Tudor if you consider the Rolex lineage and potential resale value.

From a 'on paper spec' wise, the GS is definitely the better watch.
But since this hobby is far too 'emotional' instead of 'logical', I PERSONALLY would still go BB58. That particular GS just does not do much for me. (I also am not a huge fan of silver dials on steel cases. Too monochrome, and not as versatile.)
But if the GS speaks to you, then it's a no brainer :P
