Have you handled the GS in person? To me, it doesnt "feel like" it's worth the price. Any GS imho.

Since you like dive watches, have u considered an Omega PO?

I have yet to see a Grand Seiko in the wild (but why should that matter?) Tudor, on the other hand, they are being moved regularly and picking up on the coattails of Rolex's control of supply and demand on the market.

I had a Black Bay at one point, and after a year, decided to move on to something else. It's a nice watch over all, but just big (for my personal tastes) and decided to stray away from 41mm/42mm and head back to a 36 or 39mm. The movement was awesome - it NEVER lost a second for the year I wore it, and I loved the 72 hour reserve. I could leave it sitting for the weekend and still be accurate to the atomic clock (or whichever source you use.) Just keep in mind, though. If you ever need service, only Rolex/Tudor can service the movement. Word on the street is they might just replace the whole damn thing because it's so complicated, but I could be wrong (likely wrong.) Probably read that somewhere on some WIS forum so take it for what its worth. But hey, you can stretch the service interval longer these days, so YMMV.

Any how, always try the watch on before making your decision. If it doesn't feel right, then there's nothing you can do to make it work on you.

i love my aqua terra. its a good dressy dive watch. Dont buy any omega new. thats the mistake i made (twice). You can find a lightly used one for like a few grand off the retail and they are identical.

Grand Seikos are just special. nobody wears them (at those prices, most people just gravitate towards the swiss stuff) and that exclusivity makes them appealing to me.

Bb58 vs sbga283
The two watches you posted couldn't be any more different. The answer would depend on what you already have on your collection. I have the BB58 and the size is perfect but I do appreciate my GS more because they're good value for the money and great watches, even their quartz models.

Have you looked into the Grand Seiko Four Seasons Spring Drive models? The SBGA415 would be my pick

If you handle a GS in direct comparison to any competitor in the same segment, you should have no problem seeing the value and craftsmanship.
If you happen to get a SD.. the sweep is truly mesmerizing.

(i'm biased, as you can tell..)

Get what makes the most sense for you - what does the rest of your collection look like? A GS is as good as it gets in terms of craftsmanship and the spring drive is really an incredible movement.

BB58 is a solid, robust and tough watch that can be used as an everyday desk diver. The GS might be a little more refined and dressy.

Hockey question. Answer should be Chicago.

Original 6: Chicago, Boston, Toronto, Montreal, Detroit, NY Rangers

Farthest east would be Boston. Farthest west is Chicago

^ I personally like the other version, with the small seconds. (The Hour and Minute hands on this model look a little short. But that's just my opinion).

On another note, I just bought ANOTHER watch... and I think it is really time to purge some of my collection. Am I allowed to make a new thread in the Used Fashion & Cosmetics section? The reason I ask is because I don't see any threads there...

Have like 5 watches to sell to make room / and free up some funds xD

Well, I wanted to dump a bunch of photos for the watches in a more isolated place to not clutter this thread (and get bumped down by the next page). Makes it easier to link it too.

That being said, I am selling:

Seiko Alpinist Sarb017 (Green dial) + OEM Seiko Bracelet (Solid endlinks, links, push button scissor clasp)
Seiko Starlight SRPC01J1 (Seiko Presage Cocktail Time, Starlight, Limited Edition)
Mercer Lexington Panda (posted for sale in here before)
1956 Zenith Sporto (posted for sale in here before)
Zelos Mako 500 Diver Bronze case, Meteorite Dial

I'll post pics etc in a thread later tonight.

EDIT:
Posted the for sale thread:
https://www.revscene.net/forums/7165...l-watches.html
and link also in my signature.

EDIT2:
Ok, sold 4 of them! Only the Vintage 1956 Zenith Sporto remaining. Thanks!

Any recommendations on where to get a Rolex authenticated? Just called Rolex AD and they said they do not provide that service. But browsed other forums in the states where the service is offered for $50.

Please let me know, thanks!

You could visit a reputable watchmaker like Norbert (German Watchmaker) or Otto Friedl Ltd (they used to be an authorized Rolex service center). If I'm not mistaken, Norbert charges $25 to verify the authenticity of the watch

For those of you trying to get on to CanWatchCo forums, I will admit that due to the recent "changes" as of August the forum sucks hard.

Most of the sellers need to pay a fee in order to sell their watches (buying is free) so the flow and availability (and deals) really suck now. Most of the sellers are absolute assholes as well. One wrong move (whatever that may even be) and they trash talk you on the forum where nobody will even respond to you ever again. Some sellers act like they're doing you a favour too, and respond with their holier than thou attitude. It's been frustrating, but I barely log on to the forum any more. For those of you who still actively browse the forum and find it helpful, all the power to you.

Is there a better alternative than CWC?

For the Canadian market, I'm unsure of any alternatives.

My Ching Chong ling long watch is waiting for me at home. I can’t wait to go and play with it.
Wife asked why I bought this, I said to support Chinese watch making. She like who gives a shit about Chinese watch making.
