Clearing the photos from when I had to sell off that watch hoard. These Pulsar/Lorus/Seiko models with a Y652/653 can be had for about $20-$40 at flea markets, etc. FYI, that same movement was also used in the Breilting Pluton from the 80's/90's which sell for about $1000+ in the used market. So if you want a poormans pluton, there you go. The pluton was featured in the movie Point Break when Patrick Swayze looks at his watch and says, "the little hand says its time to rock and roll" in the bank robbery scene. Your useless watch history fact for the day lol |

If you're ever in Coquitlam/Port Moody, I can do it for you but I see that you're in the Okanagan | I'll have to take a shot at it next week. I got one pin to move a bit but it was in there really tight and the bit I was using as a punch was too short.

Thanks for the tip on the SIM card remover, one of those with some gentle (ish) tapping with a small hammer and I was able to get it sorted.
How do you guys store yours? I've got them both kinda crammed in the box but it's not the most elegant solution.
I wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about the Esprit too, but as far as I can tell they don't keep info on old models on their site and this is from 2006.

Holy, Espirt. Last time I saw that was when I was in Singapore pre-pandemic. I don't think they are in North America anymore? I remember buying my dad an Espirt watch waaaaay back in the day.

Just a simple leatherette style case with a zipper closure from aliexpress for me. I've also thrown a few moisture absorbing packs in it as i've had condensation build up before on some of my other vintage watches. |

Most likely a group associated with Timex or fossil if I were to guess

I was going to say... I do NOT know my watches... but I think I recently saw a Tiktok of a guy in New York who goes around asking people about their fancy watches and he was talking to someone with a Patek that looked exactly like that one and they said it was worth at least a couple hundy if not more????
His had a green strap and was some Tiffany exclusive, but the face shape and whatnot was exactly the same.

I've been watching a ton of watch restoration videos on youtube lately.. Like probably hundreds of hours of it, usually just before bed. It's so relaxing and I love the mechanical engineering and history of it all. So I've been keeping an eye on this thread as well.
Unfortunately most of these watches are way out of my price range, so I still rock my G-Shock Man in Mat Black Riseman I posted here like 12 years ago
I did just take it apart and washed every component and replaced the rechargable battery (imported from Japan since I want to make sure it's original for a good price)
It's really tempting to buy a bunch of tools and try the hobby for myself.. God dammit. I kind of would love to buy a WW2 era with a black dial and black out the housing and bezel.
If you could make money doing it, I'd really consider it
Anyway I enjoy everyone sharing their watches, thanks

Anyway I enjoy everyone sharing their watches, thanks | You should do it. There isn't money to be made on working on watches but there is in restoring them to sell as a side hustle.
I started with a simple kit from ebay. Of course the tools were junk but it got the job done when I was learning. Most ppl eventually make their own tools or customize random things for tools. The things I dont cheap out on are screwdrivers though and jewelers magnifying tools. Be prepared for some frustrating nights looking for a single screw that you've dropped
You should have said something a month ago when I essentially gave away or sold a bunch of ww2 era watches for next to nothing because they had no resale value. I come across other worthless but still good vintage mechanical watches from time to time that I could give you to try working on https://imgur.com/a/zJw3Y2y
Restored this early 1940's' Longines not too long ago that had belonged to Canadian forces member |

I just saw your lot of low value watches.. how do you end up with a collection like that? Just scouring ebay for non workers? The one that catches my eye is that Westclox.. Looks like it was made in Canada?
Edit: Found a pic of James Dean wearing the square version of that watch in the movie Rebel Without A Cause |
