I can't speak for your pre-party bro with the $3M in inventory but there are legitimate grey market guys who offload inventory from reputable dealers. Legitimate watch dealers have to move stock in order to get access to the hotter items and sadly, also have to buy less than favourable/popular/ugly models in order to retain their dealer status. I recently picked up a BNIB Speedmaster 57 from a grey market reseller with full factory warranty at a price I could no way in hell get from any Omega dealer. I tried really hard to drive a discount from ADs nationally too. The only way I could get this watch and at the price I was willing to pay was through the grey market dealer. These grey market resellers will have their client lists who either have an itch to get the latest and greatest or resell for themselves, or just need IG content or what have you (legitimate or not.) You'll have to ask yourself if you want to take the red or blue pill and see how deep the rabbit hole goes. :D Edit: Also consider the economy and the looming recession and interest rate hikes: Most people will be discretionary on their purchases while others will simply not be impacted (i.e. Badhobz) |
WHICH ONE DID YOU GET!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?! https://www.omegawatches.com/watches...ection/product AHHHH i love it so much!!!! https://www.omegawatches.com/media/c...15101001-l.png Quote:

This will make most people vomit but I got the green dial version with the bracelet. The green dial is very subtle, almost black under some lighting conditions and very nice in the sun. The pictures on the website don't do it justice. For what it's worth, I am still a bug fan of manual-wind movements. The 60 hour power reserve was a huge plus for me and this is, by far, the most comfortable Speedmaster I've worn. I know, most people stay true to having the Moonwatch as part of their collection, but I am past that as every dog and cat own one. Nevermind the asking prices for them. I got this one at a very favourable price in comparison to a Moonwatch. :) |
DUKES YOU ARE MY HERO !!!!!! THIS. IS. EPIC. and you are right, if youre going to buy a moonwatch, you might as well make it YOUR moonwatch. WELL DONE SIR, WELL DONE!!!!!!! thats one sexy piece. PICS when you get a chance https://media2.giphy.com/media/xT77X...giphy.gif&ct=g https://www.omegawatches.com/media/c...15110001-l.png |
Not the best photo, but... https://i.imgur.com/Y3hGNmUh.jpg Quote:
We've all heard the sales pitch about how it was the first watch on the moon etc. I got tired of it and I never cared. The Speedmaster 57, being released as a novelty this year, spoke to me more and it was also the year I got married (This was a wedding gift from my wife.) So there is a story and sentimental value to this piece. I have an oddball collection of watches. I don't have a Moonwatch. But I have this Speedmaster 57. I don't have a DateJust or Submariner or Daytona, but I do have a Cellini. Top that off with two Nomos in my collection, one being a manual movement and another automatic, and a TAG Heuer Carrer Twin Time, needless to say, not the normal collection as most people, but one to call my own. |
^Wow that looks incredible - I love that color. Congrats! What's the reason someone would 'vomit' over this version?? This arrived earlier this week and really liking the look of it. Just waiting for my watch kit to arrive so I can size it properly. https://i.imgur.com/15qnnXd.jpg |
Metric Retro Dial !!!! thats rare as fuck. Nicely done Radeon |

The watch community (or dare I say it, watch companies and bloggers/influencers) have created a cult of Moonwatch admirers where it has become an iconic, must-have piece to the "serious" watch enthusiast. Its earned its merit in being a solid, reliable watch to earn its place among watch enthusiasts, but this was sort of my middle finger to the world. :D I like the Speedmaster and the Moonwatch, but for all intents and purposes, it wasn't a priority to have one in my collection. I often go against the grain and have managed to explore a lot of brands which don't end up in peoples collections outside of the usual Rolex or Omega and I've really enjoyed the opportunity to look outside the norms of watch collecting social conventions. There are a lot of neat brands out there such as Jaeger-LeCoultre, Glasshute Original, A.Lange & Sohne etc. that often get looked over but deserve some attention. Quote:

Montechristo's a Rolex AD again? They weren't for a while after some CBSA/CRA sales tax issues a while ago. |

Ooh was looking for a DJ41 with fluted bezel, what's the MSRP of them at retail? Seems like grey market got some for $12 - 14k no tax. |
