blackbay 58, i think the authorized dealers can help you out. I havent seen too many replica's of tudors just because if anyone were to fake it, they would likely fake a rolex more than a tudor.
All they have to do is pop open the case, grab the serial number and see if the serial number matches whats in the computer system/certification card.
you gotta go to HK/Shenzhen for that kinda stuff. they got some crazy ass fakes there but i heard they arent even cheap. like a crazy ass daytona fake is 1000 bucks. at that price, it seems hardly worth it to me... what if it breaks, who would be able to service it?
a strange rabbit hole you go down with these fakes. Plus at the end of the day, it aint worth anything.. at least with the real thing you can say its an investment and it'll retain some value if not appreciate. The fake, youre literally paying 1000 bucks to show off to others?
Yup, heard that too. Top tier fakes are going for $1 -3K USD. Those fakes for $1,000 have value in the local marketplace as well, probably flappable for $2-3K too as a top quality fake. Only downside is that those orders will be seized at the border sometimes when you bring it in.
A friend of mine used to order fake handbags for around $400 - 1.5K per bag, the replicas were 98-99% replicas. If it had any flaws it would be the colour on the zippers, interior lining were off by maybe a few colour codes but only seeable if you have the real one next to it or smell. The exteriors were flawless. They made a killing selling the mini LV backpacks, $300 to buy, $1,000-1,200 CAD for fakes.
It's just crazy to see, as the rest of the world plunged into economic catastrophe due to covid, for some reason expensive watches have doubled in price over that time. Seems like a very small amount of people are making a disproportionate amount of money, but there's enough of them out there to drive the market crazy.
What a shitty time for me to finally get interested in something

The question is, is it heading towards a bubble?
Actually most people in developed countries were wealthier than ever during covid. The watch market is just another symptom of the insane inflation we are experiencing. Like the used car market.
People couldn't travel or eat out so cash savings increased significantly as people didn't have anywhere to spend their money.
At the same time after the initial market dip, stock markets went on a bull run to record highs (remember GameStop and all the other meme stocks?)
On top of that crypto had huge gains as well, would not be surprised many people new to luxury watches are also crypto bros.
And on top of that, the great resignation and the hiring spree companies (particularly tech) went on in 2021, huge raises all around as the job market was insanely competitive.
All in all, people just had a ton of cash and wealth saved up over the past two years.
That said, it sounds like the luxury watch market has started to plateau just like the used car market, as interest rates are rising, stock market uncertainty, and inflation slowing.
I bought my moon watch off a guy on Craigslist literally the Friday before we all started working from home at the beginning of covid for $3.4k

Check out RWG.bz to see if a high end replica of the watch you're interested in exists and how to spot the tells
Some factories produce a rep with a better case but horrible everything else, some make one with a better bezel. So some individuals essentially put together a "super rep" using a mix of these very good replica parts along with some genuine parts (if they fit the case or movement)
From what I've seen and experienced, the pre-owned market is currently taking a beating, especially vintage. luxury brands aren't going to lower prices because of used market prices but i'm sure the demand for new watches will take a hit when pre-owned prices are just too tempting.
btw, watchfinder and co just did a quick segment on your new watch. Some watch guys actually feel quite honored when a piece they have is featured on this popular channel lol. Starts at 2:40.

Cool thanks for sharing! Let's get that account issue sorted now
Unfortunately I won't be able to share any new acquisitions for.. maybe another 13 years? That's when I bought my last one, the Riseman
Doesn't stop me from shopping though... I've shared some of my dream watches already though.. Hamilton Murph 42mm, Hanhart 417 ES, and also absolutely LOVE the Sinn divers
What are some of your guys' objects of desire? Maybe something that is realistic to actually buy one day? (these are realistic for me, my holy grail Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon is NOT lol)

Is there anyway I can authenticate it or worth authenticating? I'm thinkin about comparing the serial with the authenticity card + box. But he also sells a tons of AP's / Patek's / Rolexes, so I can't imagine him selling at any fakes. Date on the card is mid Jan 2023.
Gerbs call the Authorized dealer, im 99% sure they have a computer system they can verify the serial number to. Worst come to worst, you take it into the AD, get them to resize it for you (its free of charge) and in order for them to do that, they have to verify the authenticity card.
Where is a good/price place to buy Omega Seamaster ?
online search localy only at Fairmont Hotel
I got mine at YVR duty free. Saving 12% tax is significant. Might be worth booking a cheapy flight out somewhere and grabbing it. Or for most amount of savings grab it in Europe and save the VAT
You guys ever use an app like these to test your watches? In my experience it has gained around 7 seconds over the week, so +0.7 actually sounds right (I assume that's good and Laco does quality regulation since the default spec for this movement is like +/- 25 seconds lol). Maybe it depends on the position of the watch... This is just face up, obviously you'd do from all positions if actually testing
Would love to see some results from some of your Omegas, Rolexes, Seikos, and vintage! I think that "WAM" has a better output. Pro tip: Make sure to put both on a hard surface.. I thought a mouse pad would be better but the desk gave more repeatable results
