Good way for that auction house to destroy its reputation for even attempting to sell that. I like how they stated it as "marked as Audemars"

Fixed a Gucci yesterday for a neighbor that spent $1500 for this watch a few years ago. Movement was hooped so I ordered a new one and swapped it in, $16.67 shipped... a $12 Ronda movement for a $1500+ watch

Man when I think of what I'd get in a $1500 watch WutFace

To each their own

Do you know how much an off the shelf ETA automatic movement costs? (Or Selitta since ETA are becoming more exclusive to Swatch group brands). I think I've seen the Seiko movements on Ali for like $40-50

Women buy fashion watches man. I looked at a Cartier tank for the wife recently. I realized why they are so cheap, majority of them are quartz now they have a few automatics but they are 3x the price and significantly bigger in size.. Same with the Bulgari serpent Watch she likes. All quartz.

What a good looking watch.. honestly it’s helluva great buy for your first enthusiast piece. I know I keep saying this but it really really is. Did you go buy some straps yet ? That’s also a horrible rabbit hole that once you go down….

SkinnyPupp 02-09-2023 01:08 AM

I've been looking but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have a canvas one in my cart in AliExpress for like $2 lol. Also may get a rubber strap for the summer and maybe even a bracelet. No big hurry, I like the original (although I would prefer if it was 20mm all around and not tapered to 18mm)

I actually contacted them about sending me a black buckle from one of their older models, and they looked for one but couldn't find one. Good service nonetheless! They have a hybrid strap that actually looks pretty cool with a black buckle

60 EUR

I bet I'll be more inclined to switch it up in the summer if this leather gets swampy.

Badhobz 02-09-2023 05:36 AM

Since it’s a military watch, get some traditional nato straps. They’ll look truly epic on this.

I use to order quite bit from Perrin out of Toronto but their prices aren't as good as they use to be. https://perrinwatchparts.com/search?...TA*+automatic*

Just to give you an idea,

ETA 2824 - $356.78
ETA 7750 - $783.55
ETA 7753 - $1,033.81
ETA 2892 - $408.15
Selitta SW200 - $248.90

There are far better deals for movements to be had on Ebay

I really enjoy this thread so much, even though all my watches are shit. It's so fun to read about your guys interests and knowledge of these watches and see these things in the wild.

I agree and I wish more people would post pics of their dailies, even if they have in the past! Always appreciate new pics of your guys' watches!

I came across this German brand (of course) Dekla, which has highly customizable watches with excellent designs, which start around 530 EUR including Swiss movement

You can customize the case finish, hands material (so blued, gold, black, etc) the movement (Starting with ETA or Selitta) etc. I am partial to this design with a red seconds hand.

Seems like a great deal for the price.

^ That's a cool site to play around on

rb 02-09-2023 05:47 PM

Sold... I know i'm going to have seller's remorse one day but I need every dime I can get my hands on to get back into the real estate market.

Formerly mine... a very very rare and somewhat unknown 1950's Rolex that had an integrated oyster stretch bracelet from factory

Most of the stuff I pick up (purchased from garage sales, through trades w/ other watch ppl etc) are quartz powered so I don't really bother posting them here. I also don't usually keep a watch for more than a month unless its super rare.

here's a just some of the stuff that I've had in possession just the last 3yrs or so...

Watch needs: a timer and tells the time

Nice-to-have: step counter, heart rate, etc

Any recommendations that are relatively cheap? I lose my watches easily, so preferably something ~$100 or less

1) i would go with Huawei watch.
Battery life is easily 10- 14 days
Buttons are very well easy to use and swipe is super good.

2) I got a Asus watch and it was a PAIN in the ass compared to the Huawei.
It did hold up to 7 days of battery life.
swipe is slow. Screen is crap, color was crap.
it does allow you to swim BUT not in salt water or chemicals.. where in the hell am I going swim.. guess lake it is only.
swipe is not smooth and just to use the timer, i have to swipe literally 10+ menus.

Just ordered 3 straps from 3 different vendors on AliExpress. 2 nylon (1 NATO, 1 two piece) and 1 silicone tropical strap. Cost me $18, wish me luck! Don't expect to see them for a couple months

I'd expect that when it's shipping to Canada, but the same for Ali purchases to HK?

Badhobz 02-10-2023 06:52 AM

Sometime the aliexpress bands are fast. I got an aliexpress package in a week before. You’re in HK, it should come in like tomorrow. Lululukukukolololol

SkinnyPupp 02-10-2023 06:55 AM

If they ship right away, I should get them pretty quick, most likely by Tuesday or Wednesday. But for some reason I don't expect them to even ship them out for like 2 weeks lol

Never ordered from Ali before

Badhobz 02-10-2023 08:52 AM

Problem with nato straps is soon you’ll have like 20+ and your wife will think you’re a diva.

hmm, will look into the huawei - how does it compare to a fitbit watch (which I'm also considering as well)?
