It's clear the owner is hung like a horse, and winds the watch using the same rope and pulley system he uses to tether that beast to his leg so he's able to walk around (legally) in public, albeit with an understandable limp.

Similar to the Seiko I posted recently, Hamilton launched a set of field watches today... I think they look great - I love steel bezels, especially with a white dial. MSRP will be $1000 so I guess $800ish
Regulated my replica as it was really out of whack. Got it down to -10 seconds but I doubt it'll last long there

That swan neck is fake btw lol.. It doesn't do anything. But you can still move the balance spring from the other side.
I ordered a Seagull movement to replace this one.. It's also based on the UNITAS 6497-1 and should be a direct swap. It should keep better time, but this is more for fun. I'm ready to mess around with this stuff, but nothing like full service or anything like that. If it goes well I may buy a legit ETA.. That would be about $300
(and yes I cleaned out the crud in the crown guard too.. should have done it before I took the pic lol)
wow the finishing on these replicas dont even look that bad. ive seen worse finishings on mid tier "luxury" brand.
Some of them legit look just as nice as the genuine ones, it's pretty amazing
But it's all looks.. It's still fake stuff put in there that can mess things up, and the movement itself it just "functional and that's it". Which is impressive in itself I guess.
Adam Savage is a big Omega fan and owns several... But they are always breaking down and in for service, so he switched to a Seiko modded to look like Omega
Here it is on the meter out of the box (beat error probably doesn't work on this app, ignore that)
Will pop it in this weekend most likely
Edit: Played around with removing the hand and pressing it back on. Also regulated it
Looks good! But the replica looked good too for a few months until it crapped out. We shall see
I bought a cheap loupe and it needs to be like 1cm away to be able to see anything from it.. I assume that's because it sucks, that's not how all loupes are. Right?
Invest in a good loupe. It will go a long way. I've tried a few cheap loupes and a few highly rated and forum recommended ones on the cheap but ultimately, did not like them. I have a Zeiss loupe and really enjoying the overall ergonomics and visual quality. Different zoom will change how far or close you need to be. You may need to be 1cm close depending on which loupe and zoom you get.

All done! Seagull is installed and ticking away at +/- 0 seconds, according to the timegrapher app
Hardest part was the movement clips. Those little bastards are so small and like to jump out of the tweezers. I even dropped one, but was able to find it (thankfully the movement came with a couple, just in case)
If I work on my watch again, I'll get quality tweezers, a new loupe (or desktop magnifying glass with light), and a movement holder of some sort.

I've started pulling out parts trays when I'm working on anything with small parts, screws etc. I picked up a bunch of SKOGSVIKEN soap dish/trays at Ikea for $2 that I use. I have a larger silicone tray I use as my main non slip/scratch working area so parts don't just bounce or roll away when dropped.

ive always liked the khaki field 38.. nice and modest size, classy but nothing fancy. now they make an 80hr version that caught my attention a bit.

Swatch has an 80 hour version of that movement that they put into a lot of watches, especially Tissot. I'm shocked they haven't stuck it in the Hamiltons too!
