But since you said $500 for a service I will assume automatic movement,
Service intervals are usually around 3-5 years but you should consult your manufacturer's specific forums (usually on watchuseek etc).
For example, an Omega with an ETA 2824 (i think) can get by with just oiling every 3-5 years because they in-house refinished the working side and case-back side of the movement. That is a bit of a generalization, but ETA sourced movements that are refinished can last a bit longer without service.
However, if you have an Omega co-axial movement, they say you only need to service it every 10 years but that is outright wrong. There are lots of complaints of gear issues, mainspring, and dial train issues within 3 years. It is a small fortune to keep some versions of the co-axial working long term.
If you are really into your watch, having it oiled by a professional watch guy (try the german watchmaker on homer) really keeps things running well and for a long time. I usually do this every two years.
c/n: just get your watch oiled, the watch repair shop will tell you if its anything more. Usually this costs about $100

The final product: | I have a seiko I bought many years ago which looks pretty much the same but with a black rubber band. Anyways my watch ran noticeably slow, be sure to correct the time every 2 weeks or so. But I paid $300 for an automatic watch and I wasn't gonna complain about it

Hello everyone, just want to say i love all the watches in this thread. I am looking for a entry level watch.
My price range is $1300 or less, what watch brand should i be looking for?
was thinking
Hamilton
Tissot
Any suggestions?
Also, any suggestions on where to buy a watch?
I just know of Timeco, and the place in Oakridge mall
Thanks

There's many fine choices for that price range.. Depends what you're looking for. Automatic? Quartz? What's your personal style? What kind of band?
For me personally, an entry level automatic I suggest is Seiko. Posted via RS Mobile |

Thanks | You should try an Omega, for that price a seamaster might be ok. Buy it from an authorized dealer.
