If you are spending say $500 for example, it wouldn't really matter if it's a designer watch or not. Buy the gf what she likes since it's in the price range.

Don't know if i should get black or white faced.

Any opinions?

I like white. Seems more versatile for me. If it's for dressier events, then black.

BlackZRoadster 06-10-2011 08:37 PM

Black is way more versatile for watches IMO, easiest to go with casual and formal

Looking to buy a watch for my GF. I've found some online that I quite like. One is made by Invicta, and the other by Swiss Legend. Multiple websites are showing these watches for quite a discounted price. They show retail price of $1000+.

Does anyone have any info on these brands? Are they decent watches? I don't really beleive the MSRP that they advertise. My other option is getting her the DKNY watch she likes, but I don't like the idea of spending $300+ on a designer/fashion watch.

I say definitely stay away from Invicta. Their "retail price" is a joke. All the websites selling Invicta will list a retail price of $1000 and offer 80-90% off...I've also read horror stories regarding their quality/customer service from watchuseek/timezone. Some people say they've had no problems...but it's at your own risk!

Any one wearing a U-Boat watch here? I'm strongly contemplating getting one soon. They start at $2500, Pretty affordable compared to Panerai's.

U-boat has a brother company that goes by the name WELDER (same designer, and i believe same mechanism) http://www.welderamerica.com/
I know they have similar designs on some, but cost maybe 500-1000 less than a U-boat.

Other similar styles to the U-boat you can look at are Glycine and Anonimo

I didnt want to start another thread so I'm going to post here.

I want to wear my grandfathers Seiko kinetic watch which he bought in the the late 80s in HK but when I tried to adjust the date and time but the knob is stuck. Where do I get it oiled up/cleaned? Any reliable places?

Thanks

Anyone know where I'd be able to find a decent watch case? Something to hold around 5-10 watches.

Need help purchasing my first watch. I'm really interested in the Tissot V8 w/leather strap and was wondering what kind of stores aside from TimeCo sell it? Ive read in this thread that some authorized dealers are negotiable with there prices. Anyone have experience with this?
TIA

The only 3 place i know of that sells Hamilton is,

TimeCo. Metrotown/ Richmond
Chrono Boutique in Oakridge

I only saw the X-wind at Metro and even fewer Hamilton in Oakridge. But i am sure if you ask, they can get it for you.

IF you want the Cheapest, Ebay. But be careful. I would much rather buy from a dealer though.
