we have a local omega boutique here in hotel georgia.
local retailers would be time and gold, siba or rodeo jewellers (i might have missed a few)

from what i've read on several forums, ace jewellers are okay for online purchases

while i never bought online, i've looked at other sites but only for price ranges:
- jomashop.com
- authenticwatches.com
- prestigetime.com

if you are heading down to the US, it might be cheaper there or they "might" throw in some extra stuff (omega cap, or leather notebook, or an extra strap)

also depends on which seamaster you are thinking of. if you are thinking of getting the seamaster 300, now would be a really good time to purchase one as the new one has already been revealed a few months ago (not yet launched in their website tho), so the outgoing model might go for a few dollars less

fyi standard discount for most of the stores (authorized dealers) in vancouver is 20%. so if you're not getting anything higher than that, you're just paying the average price.

I understand that warranty is done via jomashop, and non existent with oem, but after warranty, would you be able to send it to the manufacturer and have a service done? Or would they deny it?

i've wondered about this myself for quite sometime too because once the warranty runs out, technically all watches would hold the same weight when it time comes for them to get serviced.

i do recall that when i sent in my watch to get serviced here by the omega boutique, they just asked for the serial number so i presented them with all the warranty cards and stuff that came with the watch.

i don't know how jomashop would give you all those papers and authentication cards etc esp where warranty is concerned

Gray market dealers will usually send you all box and unsigned/blank papers/warranty cards (e.g. will not have an authorized dealer stamp). Should have no problems sending in watches for service (not warranty) as long as serial number is intact.

anyone own a citizen eco-drive watch? I was thinking of getting a higher end watch to replace my seiko (omega, tag, etc) but I was surprised of how nice the eco-drive's look:

I have a Citizen eco-drive..

It's a nice watch.

Funny enough, I'm looking for a Seiko diver for everyday use.

Look back a few pages, there are tons of posts on Eco-Drive.

They're great watches, very classy and run well...I also believe they come with a 5 year warranty which is nice to have on a watch as intricate as the Eco-Drive.
