Can anyone recommend a travel agency known for the best travel deals - air only? Thanks!

Hong Kong/China

Has anybody been to Hong Kong and China and know of any good places worth visiting. I have a friend there but doesn't really party so does anybody know of any places to go clubbing (that's safe for tourist). That'll be much appreciated..

RTS 02-06-2007 11:55 PM

Yours is a big question:

However in HK anywhere in HK Island is safe for clubbing IMO. Actually, most places in HK are safe unless you purposely go to some cheap-ass-triad-run place in MK.

Having said that, in HK go to Lan Kwai Fong and hit up:

Volar, Dragon I (member's only so you'll need a local hookup)

Sugar, Hei Hei... hell, just go to LKF and you'll see many options.

As for China? Where are you going? I've only lived in Shanghai and the best club there is Guandi in Fuxing Park.

IMO if you are gonna be in Asia and use HK as your base, instead of going to China I'd go to Taipei and party it up there!

Here's the healthy places to visit in HK:

Ocean Park
The Peak (can visit their wax museum too!!)
Disneyland (not really worth going if you've been to other ones)
Chek Chu
Mong Kok got the best shopping streets for young ppl
All the malls (APM, timesquare, langham place, yau yut sing, sha tin)

MK is a great place to shop, but don't expect high quality.

If you want cheap computer parts and crafts and what not...go to Sham Shui Po.

Factory outlets are in Cheung Sha Wan

For higher end world wide brands I'd go to HK Island.

Touristy Urban shopping and eating i say hit up Tsim Sha Tsui

Clubbing or pubbing go to Lan Gwai Fong (Friday evenings its packed with yummy european and aussie business men)

Kowloon and the new territories have a lot of historical infulstructure.

But ya HK is broken down into 3 main parts. New Territories (sort of like the fraser valley, tri-city area)

You got your Kowloon area (mainly residential and sort of the middle class) And Tsim Sha Tsui and what not are sort of the Vancouver/Downtown area

You have HK Island where its the richer folk and business district (equivalent to downtownish area.)

linlaomu 05-25-2007 12:18 PM

Bulk up and speak fluent English constantly, or, just have a fat wallet. You'll see a stampede of Honger chicks running behind you and keep you company for, not just 2 weeks, but as long as these chicks can keep you until your wallet turn dry :D

SlySi 05-29-2007 11:39 AM

When are you going to HK?

Whatt.. when I was there this past Christmas, I spoke fluent English constantly but I didn't have a parade of Honger chicks following me around

Lan Kwai Fong has plenty of good bars to hang out at.

If you like games, there's plenty of arcades around too. Just watch out for the ones that do allow smoking (even though it's supposed to be illegal now) as there are a lot of er.. 'gangsters' there, especially at night time.

If you like cute Honger girls, and games, then go to Namco in Causeway Bay. I THINK it was in the Times Square mall.. or the one right beside it. I can't really remember.

It's cuz speaking english and ABC or CBC's are super normal now. Hong Kong unlike other places in Asia is more developed and they won't flock on over.

In response to the thread starter:

Depends on what environment you're looking at going to. Lan Kwai Fong and even "Gold Coast" Wong Kum Hoi On or something or other has more English Speakers. At LKF on a Friday evening is predominantly white business men out with their beers.

There's lots to do in Hong Kong, it's a matter of WHAT you want to do there, is it to try out their nightlife and see the ladies and have a "good time" or you want to see the cultural aspect of it or the business aspect or the culinary aspect. Go think about it and come back! If you want to meet some new friends I got family there you can meet :D hahaha they'll feed you!

jing 06-04-2007 05:02 PM

Dammit, I want to go back to HK again.
