Last time I went to HK, went with a huge debt on car payment so couldn't spend all that i wanted. Check out LKF for clubbing / drinking scene. Just mindlessly go on MTR and get off whatever station u feel like if ur bored that day. I did that once and was quite the solo adventure fun. Wish i was high doing that tbh. LOL

Hey guys!
I have a 9 hour layover in Hong Kong.
4:30pm to 1:30am
Is there anything close to the airport that is worth checking out?
Thanks

^ sounds like you worked out your ticket.
Forget about the airport....head into the city. Only takes 20minutes by train!
Plenty of food options, sight seeing, shopping etc.

9 Hours layover. You have PLENTY of time to hop onto the airport express out into the city and check it out.
HKG is super efficient in handling customs and security so realistically you have a good 6+ hours to roam the town.

Thanks | Dude, GO TO MACAU.
You'll be there for dinner time, the ferry from HKIA leaves at 5PM to Macau.. might be tight.. you might be lucky. If not, head to the city and take the ferry to Macau.
I had 12 hours once, went from HK, to China, to Macau, back to HK for my flight. Immigration in China was a little nuts going in and out.

Just checked flights for May 2013.
$1000 for weekdays and $1050 for weekends. That's pretty good considering the last few weeks was about $1300/$1370 for the same period.

A bumpo cuz I'm heading to HK in 2 weeks!
I'm an avid food hunter! Will go anywhere and eat anything!
My cousin tells me that "ramen" is the fad now and there are tons opening up from authentic Japanese because they are all moving from Japan. Also love seafood, and my gf loves desserts! (I will check out the mango/durian places mentioned in the first page of this thread but that was 7 years ago!)

Ramen is the thing now, but I haven't had any that is as remotely as good as the good places in Japan. Or even the chain places...

I'm trying to compile a list of places to eat but some of the info here is pretty old
If you find anything really good post it in here! I'll do the same while I'm there.

Going there May 5-25
I am planning to visit two other places. The choices are Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Phillipines.
3-4 days with family (probably some sort of honger tour)
4-5 days with finance (probably Thailand for this one)
Do you guys book things here? Or just hop in a travel agent in HK?

Here's the last ramen I had in Japan a few nights ago
Random place, 'regular' size with extra pork... free toppings include extra sprouts, garlic, and they even take some pork fat and run it through a strainer, drizzlling over the top of it for you
Have never come across anything this good in HK... and I doubt they do that in Canada either, but I haven't tried so I can't say. From what I hear most places are the bland soy sauce based soup instead of proper tonkotsu fatty pork broth

butao on causeway, i thought, was better, but of course a lot harder to get a seat. when i was in hk, i was staying near times square so i would usually just head to butao (well before noon or late evening) and if there was a lineup, i'd just go to ippudo. that being said, i've never had that amount of meat in ramen as seen in skinnypup's picture.
