ZOMG that shit is like flowing out of the bowl LOL!... does look good, but isn't it kind of dry without any soup on top?... I've had ramen quite a few times in Japan already so... maybe I'll skip the HK shops... or I guess I'll try one for comparison sake.

SkinnyPupp 04-26-2013 12:04 AM

Not dry at all, there's probably like 200g of fat in there :lawl:

The pile on top isn't noodles btw, it's sprouts, garlic, and pork fat

This is a small size noodles, so 300g of noodles (which is still a lot, I couldn't finish the noodles, no way)

I'm also going to HK next week.

I went to HK the year we made it to the finals and watched the Western Finals at Manchester Pub in TST.

I thought it was a good place to watch it so maybe check it out. I know prior to my trip I just googled "where to watch canucks games in hong kong" and a bunch of stuff came up. My hotel was a few blocks from Manchester so I opted for this one.

Which bars in Hong Kong are popular with Canadian ex-pats?

Has anyone been to Brunei? I am thinking of going there as side trip with family (mother and finance).

The Empire Hotel & Country Club - Hotel Reviews, Deals - Kampong Jerudong, Brunei Darussalam - TripAdvisor

Looks like a ballin' country to sightsee.

Brunei is Boring as f***. You might as well skip that and head to Sarawak, Malaysia or Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.

LiquidTurbo 04-28-2013 09:55 PM

^ agreed. Brunei is like a 2 day trip.

I'd recommend Mulu Caves in Sarawak if you're feeling adventurous..

What cell phone plans you guys use in HK? I will be using an unlocked ip4

Must have:
Local call minutes
Dataplan (3G)
Cheap international text

Optional:
Cheap international rates to call Canada

I remember using 3 there for $200 hkd for the stuff I have above.

What about when travelling in Asia?

I'm not sure if any of you guys are photog buffs and what not but the talk of the town lately is this big ass inflatable rubber ducky in TST.

It starts today and will be here for a month.

Here is a pic someone uploaded on my fb this morning.

cdizzle 05-03-2013 11:50 PM

just got back from HK and escaped the flood of mainlanders.
got so annoyed at the small luggages they pull along

Edison_Chen 05-04-2013 01:17 AM

You should see the jewelry stores, all the mainland people are buying up all the gold there. The Harbor center down where the big duck is, it's a crazy today (Saturday), people are pushing you from behind and it's like people never seen a floating duck in the water before.

Currently in Hong Kong right now. Is it just me, or are the people here getting more and more rude? I know it's the season where mainlanders come here to shop, but I'm talking about locals here. I used to come back every summer when I was a kid..and my most recent trip here was last summer around this time of the year. The people here never seemed to bother me before, but this time around, even just walking on the street bothers the hell out of me. Everyone seems to be in such a hurry.. pushing and shoving becomes a regular thing almost everyday. And god forbid it begins to rain lightly. Umbrellas pop up left right and center. I've lost count of how many open umbrellas i've taken to the head over the last week and a half. I like this place, but man do I hate the people here. Maybe I'm yelling at a cloud here.

Those are mostly not locals IMO. I have been living there for 7 years, and I haven't seen much change in the way the locals behave. What I have noticed a WAY WAY WAY more mainland people coming in. Well I guess in a way that changes the way locals behave - they are becoming much less tolerant of mainland chinese.

I don't like going to the areas where mainland tourists go, mostly because of all the smoke. Obviously I don't mind crowded places, otherwise I never would have moved there. But the amount of smoke has gotten to the point where walking around areas like CWB or TST is like being in a crowded smokey izakaya in Japan - and I avoid those as much as I can. It's truly disgusting

Yeah that's probably right. I was talking to a friend that lives/works here and he basically said the same thing. HK lifestyle is waay more rushed when compared to places like Vancouver. People are always in a hurry to get to work or whatever the hell they're doing..especially during rush hours and lunch time.

I completely agree with the smoke thing. Been frequenting MK and TST these past few days and it seems like everyone smokes.

What makes you think it wouldn't generate the same amount of chicks snaping pics as if bieber was in town.
