I think I might know what you're talking about.
The franchise is 'Hui Lau San' -.
Yeah their mango thing is pretty awesome.
I went in the summer, and the place is always so packed.

hmm snakes...Vancouver has them too, except those snakes in the soup here.... I never could tell if they put it in or not haha.
Surely, HK may have some specialty store that is mainly for eating snakes might put that on my list, but never was a fan of snakes.

Yeah, last year I went to a seafood place too.
Its called 'Sai Gong'. I think there are a few other places that offer such services.
Order the seafood, and they cook for you anyway you like.
There's a pretty good desert place there too, call "Moon Gey"
Their mango cream pancake is great |

Go to Temple Street, and eat at those outdoor food carts
Good food but the environment might give you the dirty feeling...
I got no problem with that though!

i don't even know where to start
1) HIU LAU SHAN is good, and last yr i went ti was still there.
mango, fresh fruit and stuff are amazing.
2) MUN GAY is in sai kung and made famous after Ekin and his X (not gigi) goes there all the time, they were the first to make Durian pancake.
3) fish balls, etc are given, but smelly tofu, shake fin soup with real bowls(not plastic) are great side foods back in the days
4) if you go to YOU MA TAE, at night AKA, 'Miu'street and 'men'street they have some of hte best outdoor tables with seafood such as oyster cakes.
5) if u're in china, try all the food u can think of, see on fear factor and more...
6) CLASSIC food, pastry wrap with honey comb are obsolete so please go and support the guy and get two for ten dollars.
there's more but i think i have to get back to work now.

I gotta say... for cheap food, gotta goto Cafe de Oral (Da Ga Lok)
Cuz most hk style cafe's food sucks (at least the ones I went to).
But I guess that's cuz when I go they're almost lunch time... so
their breakfast are cold.... They don't bother reheating them ; ;
MK has a lot of street food that's worth going.
But in general, for yum cha and inexpensive restaurants, I think the quality in Vancouver is better.
Too bad this trip, I hunt of cheap food, didn't really get to try restaurants.
I love the puffs, where its like a bread thing and they insert cream into it. Great stuff. Can be found in the basement of Sogo of causeway bay or MK MTR station.
Karaokes in HK are a great cheap place for food and entertainment. Awesome ^^

Me dun like Durian.
Yau Ma Dei, just outside of exit C of the MTR has a great shop for fishballs, except that place was close when I went there due to new years...
I saw some street vendors outside of the new mall in MK, saw some bbq squid... wanted to buy, but was so full at the time.... then after like 1 minute of passing through the vendors and across the street, they start running away, I was glad I wasn't near the carts with hot oil in it haha. It was the first time for me to see so many carts running so fast and so serious. It was an awesome sight haha.
