Hey, I'm playing Newlands this weekend hopefully.. how did you like it? *I mean you did score pretty good but what I mean is how's the course ;)

punkwax 08-22-2009 12:09 PM

^ Newlands is a good course. Not a great course, but a good one. Best value course in GVA in my opinion.

Oh yeah, forgiving as well - hence the 85 :)

cdizzle_996 08-22-2009 01:47 PM

Whats Newlands cost to play?

punkwax 08-22-2009 08:43 PM

if you play weekdays, there's TONS of deals out there.

hope you guys had a nice season... So my bday is coming up.. .any courses offering a free round for it? I know Golden Ears is offering it right now so might hit that up next weekend.

N.V.M. 09-21-2009 12:36 PM

Golden Eagles, free golf one week before/after your birthday. register your birthday on their website, and just bring ID when you get there. i think they're punching greens on the south course soon, then the north a couple weeks later. phone to double check.

411ken 09-21-2009 12:52 PM

^ yup, i meant golden eagle.. How is the course? good? bad? very good lol....

Played there 2 weeks ago. Course was in nice shape even after the monsoons but the greens are gross. Apparently, they had a grubs problem and the crows dug them up. Super bumpy and uneven -- horrible to putt on.

411ken 09-28-2009 02:13 PM

Played Golden Eagle yesterday and it was a nice course lol....We started early as they are having an "Iron man" tournament in the afternoon and boyyyy was the course/green tough. it was very fast and the flag positioning was crazy tough...

A marshall told us that ppl were complaing as to how hard the greens were and they weren't kidding at all haha.

Overall, good course and nothing beats playing by the mountains...ahhh

Hondaracer 09-28-2009 04:22 PM

played 4 different courses in the Kootneys while we were hunting including Eagle Ridge and Greywolf, also played Shadow Mountain, a brand new resort course, and Bootgap 18, a very nice value course outside of kimberley

absolutely fantastic courses in BC's Interior, they are fucking EXPENSIVE though because the area we played is kind of a resort town called invermere, all the rich albertans come there in the summer, my uncle who lives there said there are 14 coures within half an hour of his house, only 1 is cheaper than $50, and none are cheaper then $60 if your not a local, 2 of them we played were over $120 a round.

cdizzle_996 09-28-2009 04:31 PM

That looks unreal.

I bought 60 for $64 from www.knetgolf.com but through their ebay auction. They're used, but still in good condition and more than better enough to play rounds with. I bought them in May and I still have over 50 left so these should last me a while.

Just search ebay and depending on which listing knet has, it sometimes includes free shipping.

Apparently Walmart has ProV1s in plain brown boxes. The story I'm told is they've been used once for high-end tournament driving ranges and usually have company logos on them. I haven't seen them personally, nor have I actually looked for them, but a guy I know says he buys them all the time. $20 for a dozen or something.

Edit: I've played with him a couple times, and always logo'd ProV1s

Heard a good one the other day, going to sound like a joke, but I'm actually describing what happened.

Buddy hit a worm burner drive about 150yds in the middle of the fairway and goes, "Ope, condom shot."

My brother says, "Condom shot?"

He says, "Yep, felt like shit but at least it's safe."

I LOL'd.
