anyone hit up the golf town demo sale today? me and my buddy were at the coquitlam one at 630, there were about 25-30 other people, everyone rushed in as soon as he opened lol me and my buddy probably got amongst the best deals there, he got the 2009 Callaway X Forged for $600, on the shelf they are going for 1100: http://www.productwiki.com/upload/im...x_forged_1.jpg myself i was looking for a set of irons because my old slingshots kinda got taken over by my dad so I ended up finding some Nike Sumo irons, 2008 model very good condition and got the sand wedge for the set for $20, the steel shafts they had on the shelf for the sumo's were 589, and i got the graphite for $300 taxes in: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2386/...18bf66f552.jpg pretty happy overall, great deal, even the head manager there when he noticed i had the one set of sumo's said it was a smoking deal and one of the best they had |
Nice purchase. Ever play graphite? |
forgot that sale! holy fuck, major offset on those Sumos. |
lol those arent my Sumo's just a random pic off the net, but mine do have a slight offset and yea, I was playing graphite in both of the sets i had before these so i should be good, the sweet spot feels really great with these and they make a pretty cool sound too lol, i swear nike strives to make different sounding clubs |

Got a round up in Whistler for Xmas... man I miss golf :( |
Yea I got one of those BC golf books with all the discounts pretty nice deals actually, almost every course is 2 for 1 first round Posted via RS Mobile |
Going to St. Petes for work next week. Private course at the resort I'm staying at. 2 tee times booked already! : http://golf.marriott-vacations.com/l...ub/default.jsp |
Shot an 86 in St. Petes, ball carried extra 15-20 yds per club which was kind of nice. I don't usually hit very long. Max drive is 270, hit my 7 iron 150.. was surprised to fly my 9 iron 140 yards way over the green on the 1st hole lol. Too nice today, going to play Newlands at 10:37. Can't wait to swing the sticks. |
pics? |
No, unfortunately I didn't bring a camera. Newlands was in decent enough shape for 1st week of March, fairways had soft spots on pretty much every hole so I hit a bunch of chunky shots. Shot an 89. 15' downhill right to left on the 18th to keep it under 90. Pretty happy to drain it. Always people watching the 18th from the pub upstairs too so there's always that added pressure lol Posted via RS Mobile |
$49 twilight after 2:30 at Morgan Creek. Played the other day with some pretty good golfers who were trying to give me on-course advice. Totally screwed me up for a few holes before I gave up and went back to what I know. End result - 100 :o |
i hate that shit when people try to give advice, thats why i pretty much refuse to pick up a 4th or join a group added to my wedge repertoire today: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...chmentaspx.jpg had the 56 already then got the 54 and 58, wish i could have got the 60 or 62 but i got a deal on these |
^Nice wedges. I have a 53 Cleveland which was a present so it doesn't match my 56 & 60 Taylormade Rac Satins. Love my 53 from inside 100yds - my 56 is my green side go to club, 60 is only pulled out when I need to risk a flop or if I'm near a lip in a bunker.. |
If I am looking for a new set of irons, should i check out Golf Town or Riverside? What are you guys' experience with either? |
Golf Town - More selection, better setup and simulator to test the clubs and Top notch customer service. I've had broken clubs and ripped bags that were replaced on the spot. Sometimes with an upgraded item. As for Riverside, I'd go there if you know exactly what you want as I found them more flexible on pricing. The selection is slightly lacking and testing the clubs is kinda ghetto as you're just hitting into a net. My experience with Riverside is only with the Coquitlam location, which has been closed down so it might be different at other locations. |

Just bought a couple new Taylormade Z TP wedges, 52* and 56*. Off to the range tomorrow to give them a test. Anyone have any recommendations for irons? I play Wilson Staff Progressive blades right now, would prefer to stick with blades. I love them, best feel and great control. |
If you like blades, you can't go wrong with the Taylor Made TPs. http://www.golftown.com/gtcommerce/s...P10580C23.aspx Titliest makes some pretty good blades too http://www.golftown.com/gtcommerce/s...P12920C23.aspx If it were to me, I'd pick the Titliests only based on the fact that they're forged. mmmmmm |
Hey Guys, Going to try and get back to golfing. I bought a set of Wilson Killer Whale Graphite Irons many many moons ago, I believe I was about 11 years old. I was a tiny kid and purchased 7 wood to go along with the set. Well about 13 years later, 80lbs and probably close to 1' later, the 7 wood just doesn't cut it. I prefer to drive farther then higher in this day and age :p Can anyone suggest a budget driver to get me going? The irons wills get me through the season or two atleast until I can get my game back. |
I've always had luck with Taylormade, hell, I have an old Taylormade Spoon and i love that thing! You can snag a slightly used one for cheap. I picked up an R5 a couple years ago at Sport Check for 125 bucks. Just be sure to look for one that has a shaft that fits your swing speed though. I had whippy shafts on my drivers before and had no control, but I my swing speed is also 95+mph. Got my R5 with a stiff flex rating and I hit my driver straight 80% of the time. Best thing is to have a club that suits you, so I'd try out as many as you can with different shaft lengths and flex ratings, especially if you find a driver that you like. |
Just got a set of these -- custom fit using that swing analyzer thing. Love them! http://www.golfsetstore.com/images/2...5942876339.jpg Anyone want a used set of Mp-33s?? |
woot woot time to go out and hit the driving range |
