^ I have a very difficult time with my putting as well. I am a pretty consistent 3 putter. I can usually get on the green in 2. Definitely gonna do a lot of work on my putting this year.

only 1 1/2 weeks to take advantage of Kings Links $39 anytime special. all March. tons of the fescue have been removed from the fairway edges, so it's way friendlier now.

How's the course playing -relatively dry or like a swamp?

played again yesterday, fairways are good, and greens are great. another month the fairways will be great too.

punkwax 03-28-2011 06:55 PM

Really? Couple friends of mine played KL 2 weeks ago said it was pretty mucky... mind you they might not have hit a lot of fairways.

I played Newlands Saturday and the course was really dry for March IMO. Only a couple soggy parts that I noticed. Greens were punched and sanded, so it was quite the contrast speed-wise from what I've experienced this year in FL and Cabo.

I played well for my 3rd round though, 46 front + 44 back for a 90. Winter rules, clean and replace sure help with that score tho haha. It's nice to have a relatively perfect lie for each shot.

N.V.M. 03-30-2011 06:51 PM

well, after this week of rain, i will probably head to Riverway come sunday. bestest drained track around. Kings Links will wait another week or two after the wet we've had(having).

Pm me if you guys need golf stuff. I still work at a course, I tried helping a few guys out last year but it was too much of a pain not working in the pro shop. This year I'll be back in there instead so it will be easier. If you anybody wants to stop by in the afternoon or on a slow day while I'm working I'll let you and some friends play for free as long as you don't destroy the course. Course is in ridge, don't wanna post which one just in case someone from works finds this post through google or w.e but pm me for info.

edit: if a mod doesn't want me to offer the golf discounts just edit it out, but leave the rest in thanks

Just a quick question:

I haven't golfed any of Whistler's courses. I'm accompanying a party which has already booked Whistler Golf Club, and they're looking to booking another course.

Between Nicklaus North and Chateau Whistler, which is the one to book? I've read some really good reviews for NN, and some negative reviews for CW. I'm leaning towards NN but would like some more input if any.

Any thoughts?

Whistler GC is kinda boring but decent views of the mountain

Nicklaus north is the best of the 3 imo, alot of variety of holes

here's some pics from both whistler GC and Nicklaus north i posted a few pages back from last year:

Damn... I've been out here for 3 weeks for work and forgot my golf clubs. I wish I thought of bringing them. Damn Alberta and their flippin' 6 months of winter!

I'd check CL for a good used set, otherwise there are some good deals to be had at Golf Town. Edit: Just got an email about GT's online clearance.

Check this set out: http://www.golftown.com/Ben-Hogan-Le...Set-P3579.aspx

Pretty good deal for everything imo.

Well, after finally using a handicap calculator online, I blew it big time yesterday. Played 7 rounds up until yesterday, trending a 17.0 handicap. Shit the bed hard with a 109 at Riverway from the blues. Played the whites a month ago and shot 93 with a 9 on the 18th. Talk about a different course between whites and blues...

RangeRoverTurbo 06-28-2011 02:41 PM

Anyone been up to Westwood Plateau's driving range lately?

Eaglequest Golf - Coquitlam Deal of the Day | Groupon Vancouver

for you people out there.

also, i'm picking up golf and i played pitch and putt for the first time yesterday. missed the ball a few times and the rest were quite bad, but i still got +3 from par for the whole course. any good links to teach me how to hit the ball properly with an iron?

impossible.

punkwax 08-05-2011 03:14 PM

"missed the ball a few times" = +3 right there. Only cheating yourself if you're not keeping proper score.

yameen 08-06-2011 11:24 PM

lmao....i played again today and realized what i did wrong. i automatically subtracted 3 for each hole but on the score card it's just adding the strokes for par. today i was +15 from par. i got my first birdie and was quite happy =)

Been too busy to play this year but finally took 5 days off and squeezed in a couple rounds. Shot an 86 at The Bear in Kelowna, had a rough front 9, and shot a 78 at D'Arcy Ranch in Okotoks, Alberta. Need to get more rounds in this year, driving ranges just don't cut it.

have you played the Quail too? i played both consecutively, was a long day!

punkwax 08-08-2011 04:17 PM

Played the Canal at Northview twice in the last couple weeks. Shot 91 both times.

1st time I shot an ugly 49 on the front and a great 42 (for me) on the back.

2nd time, I shot a 44 on the front and was licking my chops since the back is shorter and I've shot 42 a couple of times there now... but then I shoot a 47 :(

Playing Westwood on Saturday. I've only played the executive up there, looking forward to it! I've been told to bring a couple extra sleeves...
