What website is good at giving reviews for golf clubs? I need a new driver.

if you can hit your old driver, you can hit any new driver from the big manufacturers. screw reviews, go to Golftown, and hit a bunch if you're not sure.

I paid $299 plus taxes. This was the cheapest laser I could find.

I go through 2 batteries per season. Its one of those camera batteries that costs $18ish.

FS: Sweet vintage putter, splits in half like a pool cue, so you can take on the plane to Cali, Arizona or whatever golf destination ..or just look damn sexy. I've never seen another one like this. 20 bucks. Probably worth more.

pretty good deal right now at the westwood plateau academy. 5 buckets at the range + 1 round for $30. A regular priced round is $23.

Just wondering has anyone been to Rob Houlding for golf lessons?

Any local recommendations for golf lessons? Over the years I've been to both Shingo and Larry.

Played Peace Portal yesterday. Love that course but its tough. Even in the fairways the ball is usually above or below your feet.. super nice though.

Going to play Riverway twilight this week. Hope we don't play the blues, I find the blues there to be wayyy tougher than the whites compared to a lot of courses. Brings all the trouble into play for me anyway...

N.V.M. 05-13-2012 09:28 AM

i played the blues at Riverway yesterday. the fairways are dry so the blues are less of a bitch to play. btw, the greens are spectacular! they are hard and you almost have to bounce up to the green instead of sticking it on, for a red pin anyways.

Anyone know how much it wud cost to get a grip change for irons? Is golftown the only ones that does em?

It's essentially the cost of the grip ($3-15 per), plus $1-2 per grip for installation.

Any golf store that sells grips will regrip for you, but you're probably better off going to GT.

You can try looking locally for small clubmakers. It's not a hard process, but it's a bit of an investment for supplies + a vice if you don't have one and want to try it yourself. You'd need to play pretty often to have it pay for itself.

Man you weren't kidding, the greens were amazing. Hard to get it close but they rolled true. Had one really bad blow up shooting a 10 on a par 4, haven't done that in a few years.. 49 front and 45 back for a 94.. no rounds in the 80s yet but its early.

Saturn2nr 05-27-2012 09:15 PM

Finally got my first round in. Haven't had any time as of late so I had been substituting with the range. I choked on the front nine, but still managed a 44, and played a bit better on the back closing out with a 37 so 81 for the round. First 5 holes were terrible, was able to par out the last 3 before the turn though. My putting on the front killed me. 2.58 putts per on the front and 1.27 on the back. That helped big time. My scoring on the par 5's helped out a couple bad holes on the back 9. Ended up playing the par 5's at a 4.2 average. Pretty happy for the first round this season.

Started playing last year. Spent most of the first year working on fixing my drive and eliminating my gigantic slice. Today at UBC it finally clicked and I hit some good ones. Nice and straight, 200 yards plus.

But now my short game has completely fallen apart! I couldn't hit an iron if my life depended on it. Bummer.

Picked up a new golf toy - Mobile golf swing analysis on your phone or tablet | Swingbyte

They are still selling it at presale cost. Not bad for a $140 toy :)

Tiger might really be back this time. The chip on 16 was insane, then that 175yd 9 iron on 18 to seal the deal was vintage Tiger. I, for one, hope he regains his old form and takes down Jacks major record.

Saturn2nr 06-03-2012 04:23 PM

I'm curious if he will catch Sneads' record for wins, he is only 9 away.

punkwax 06-03-2012 08:21 PM

^ I think Sneads is a given really. Its the majors where he has to clutch up. Go Tiger!

Pooface55 06-04-2012 08:08 AM

Still not sure about Tiger, after Bay Hill he looked terrible. But it did seem like he wasn't thinking too much about mechanics.

That shot on 16th, vintage Tiger. :ahwow: Hopefully its a sign of things to come. Snead's record is gone, the 18 majors seems iffy.

punkwax 06-07-2012 08:33 PM

Tiger, Phil & Bubba are grouped together for the first day of the Open. Must see TV.
