Forgot to mention - Local pro-fitting works best over retail fitting if you have longer/shorter arms, over 6"0 and under 5"6 and have some wacky swing... |
Oh I'm not ready for forged irons yet. Was thinking 'fitted' in terms of simply shortening shafts, not fully customizing. I'm 5'8 and have been playing with off-the-shelf irons since I started played 10 years ago. Same length of club I'm sure a lot of people ~6' are playing. Gonna check out the Rocketballz but after reading some reviews they might be too much of a game improvement club for me. I want something cavity back that looks good at address. I'm happy with my X20's right now, but I know someone who wants to buy them and was thinking of cashing in some CC points for a $500 GC to Golftown. Seems like a good enough excuse to buy some new twigs and get them sized appropriately :D These might suit the eye a bit better: http://www.golftown.com/RocketBallz-...fts-P4590.aspx |
Spoke to Lauri with Deercrest Villas today and Stay & Plays are back on at the, now Aquilini owned, Falls. Only $125/pp for a round with cart as well as a stay in a three bedroom house (right now, peak season!!). Pretty sure the minimum was 8 people before and now it's down to 4 so super easy to do a simple weekend trip rather than plan an event. She said they would even accommodate a 2some (in the 2 bedroom suite) which is crazy. Deercrest Villas at The Falls Resort I'll be booking a trip sometime in September, just thought I'd share since its a great deal IMO. Drive up Sat AM check-in, golf, BBQ and drinks at night, home the next day. |

You might want to check on the course condition before booking. Colleague of mine played the course last month and mentioned the course was in horrid unplayable conditions. Mentioned when they went under and transferred ownership to Aquilini the course was not maintained. |
lol the reason tiger is my fav player cuz he get tons of bitches |

Last 4 rounds: 78 108 90 104 No idea what the hell happened to my game ... Developed a snap hook that I can't seem to get rid of and my short game has completely fallen off the map :( |

Any suggestions on late night driving ranges? |
Not sure how late you're thinking, but Eaglequest may be your best bet? |

have you tried just letting your arms stay fully relaxed and lag behind? what i try to do now is use my lower body and core initiate my downswing and release. that's usually resulted in me fixing my snap hooks. maybe give that a try. |
Thanks Brandon but I was thinking later, like midnight...lol Sadly, I don't think anything is open past 10:30-11 |
^ You're probably right.. diggin the Tiger Tiger Woods y'all title. :lol Sunk my best putt of the year the other day at Nico Wynd. Not close to the longest of the year, probably only 15' but a downhill slider with about 5' of right to left. Curled it right in there and it was going 90 degrees for the last foot or so.. extremely difficult, great par save after a bunk 2nd shot. Then I hit a hero draw around a tree onto the back fringe on the last hole. Was going in 1 stroke behind my friend, called the hero draw, executed, 2 putt for par and ended up winning by 1 :accepted: |
Have fun playing in Maui. |
Not 100% sure I'm going to Maui. Expensive trip for a family! But if I do... I'll somehow find a few more hundies to play some golf :buttrock: |
77 at Belmont yesterday morning, with 2 doubles and no birdies. Posted via RS Mobile |
89 at Riverway yesterday. Course is in the worst shape I've seen it. Not that I play there often, but lots of burnt grass and people don't seem to repair their ball marks there. I was putting through craters unless I took the time to fix them all. Snap hooked a few drives and lost a ball each time. I almost never hook my driver, far more likely to slice.. yet it happened a few times yesterday  |
damn.. that sucks. had a snap hook tendency for a while myself. managed to correct it eventually. any idea what you're doing differently from before? |
Not sure.. not snapping my wrist hard like I do when I try to draw.. most times I fade it, love the extra yardage when it goes perfectly straight but rarely does it go hard left. Last 6 rounds: 82, 81, 82, 87, 91, 89 .. mind you the first 3 were all at Surrey which I now consider my home course as I've played there way more times than anywhere else this year. $20 after 5PM 7 days a week - gotta love it! |
hmm.. maybe it's just one of those bad drive days. sucks to have days where your drives just don't seem to work the way you want them to. damn, those are good rounds. i just started pickup up golf more seriously now. wish i had scores like that. |
Shot 90 today ... 51 on the front, 39 on the back ... :fulloffuck: |

Got my friend to take some video of me with his phone and compare it to earlier rounds (where I wasn't hooking the ball). Backed up a bit, now hitting them straight for the most part. My short game is what is killing me now ... :okay: |
Hi everyone, Got a question hopefully you guys can help. I'm extremely new at this and trying to get into golfing. I've taken a couple lessons many years ago and gone to the range quite a few times since. I can hit mostly straight 90% of the time, and roughly gauged the distance that each iron can go. I've done a bit of reading online but that's about it. It's hard to take the first step into the "big league" (18-holes?) I have a set of clubs I can borrow and as I learn more about clubs and get comfortable i would get my own set but don't want to invest that much in it yet as I'm not sure if I'll be in it for the long haul. I've been scared to go to a real course. Worried I will hold up anyone behind me and not sure about etiquette. I don't want to pay for expensive lessons, was hoping to kind of "learn as you go" as I am only looking to play extremely recreationally but the range is getting boring and obviously Pitch & Putt is not the same..... are there any beginner friendly courses around town that me and a couple of friends could go and play + sort of practice at the same time? When is the best time to go as to not disturb the better players? We bring our own clubs and balls right? Golf doesn't seem like a very noob-friendly sport, like even volleyball there are super rec-level leagues or you can setup a net anywhere and play with your friends of all levels... Golf .. Well I don't have 700 acres of grass in my backyard :\ Posted via RS Mobile |
