1. no fairway and i mean really, the whole course is rough 2. muddy and tire tracks everywhere 3. look more like a ATV field than a golf course 4. ditches everywhere needless to say but the grass sucks too. 5. the green is a joke total joke, dead grass, soil, and even holes.

LASTLY!

when me and my buddies were playing on the last few holes (17-18). Strippers. yes strippers. 4 golf carts with strippers wow. :failed: we then spotted 2 on a tee box just getting it on with a blanket at the black tee box. EPIC

if you didn't know that Tall Timbers was a cow pasture, shame on you, lol. i'm pretty sure anyone who has played for a while knows this.

so many places to find reviews(obviously you don't have golf buddies to tell you).

here, this is one of many: Tall Timber Golf Course - Langley, BC | Yelp

punkwax 06-24-2014 07:04 AM

Tall Timbers is easily the worst course around. I played it once, only made it to the 8th hole when my cart got stuck in the muddy fairway mid summer. Me and my buddy said fuck this, took our clubs off and walked to the car.

Also heard a story about the beer cart girl. An ex-coworker of mine went to a stag that started there and they were told "If you treat the beer girl right, she'll treat you right". Long story short, they paid for some cart gummers, on-green putter show etc and two guys tag teamed her in an SUV later on that night when she met up with them at the club. The tag team was free. She only charges for what goes down on the course, apparently.

Despite hearing this story after I played, I still haven't gone back. That's how shitty the course is. :lawl:

Played a best ball tourney the other day and my putter was on fire. We had 11 birdies, I drained 9 of them. One tap in, but the rest were ~6-20'. Three of them were 15-20'ers. Never drained so many long putts like that in a round.

played Seymour yesterday. they've got the course set up for the BC Juniors championship coming up. the rough is brutal, so punishing!

We shot a 64 in the rain at the best ball tourney. Finished second to a team that shot a 61.

Was really tough given the amount of water on the course. Made putting a real challenge.

^ Hit them at Golftown and let us know what you think.

Personally, I would buy some used callaway x20s or another game improving set from CL to begin with. Lots of people buy new clubs and don't stick with the game because it's not an easy one to learn. I would buy from someone like that, save some dough, and see if the game is right for me before buying new off the shelf. That's just me. In fact, I've been golfing 12 years now and have never bought new. Usually buy demo sets from Golftown..

Jmac 07-01-2014 07:29 PM

If you're just starting out, I wouldn't invest a lot as mentioned above. Once you get your core swing mechanics down, then I'd invest in custom-fit clubs as they'll help you get the most out of your game.

4 am , getting ready for a 5:45am tee time @ Pagoda! :woot2:

punkwax 07-27-2014 06:36 AM

Nice! I've played there twice. Last time I was on the green in 1 on the short par 4 10th... 3 putt :okay:

First time, I was about 8" short of my 2nd hole in one on the 15th.. man did I want to see that ball disappear lol

If anyone is in Surrey/Delta/Langley area today and wants to hit some twilight let me know. Itching to play and my golf buddies are all tied up this weekend.

edit: Golfnow shows Guildford for $23.81 @ 4:53 or $19.05 @ 5:15 - not a big fan of the course but that's a good price. Thanks cdizzle!

I'm up in the Kootneys right now. I played a course called Red Stone between Rossland and Trail yesterday. Went in with fairly low expectations, cost $102 for two green fees and a cart.

Turned out to being one of the most beautiful courses I've played in years. Lush green fairways, lightning fast greens, manicured amazingly.

Ended up carding an 80 from the blacks with 5 lost balls... All in all killed my old man who is typically a low 80 golfer

4 birds in a round... I'm over the moon when I card 2. Nice round, too bad about the lost balls!

Yeah the lost balls equated to a triple, 2 doubles, bogey and a par.

Jmac 07-27-2014 09:23 AM

Nicely done

At this point, I'm stoked when I get one. My short game is so bad this year ... Wish I had more time to practice.

I've been tracking my stats and I'm hitting just over 33% GIR and only get ~0.4 birdies per round ... Which is especially bad considering how many times I'm putting for eagle ...

So that's 6 birdie putts per round and 2 birdies every 5 rounds ... Which means I'm making 1 of 15 birdie putts :okay:

TjAlmeida 07-27-2014 09:34 AM

^ could save so many strokes with more confidence in my short game. Been constantly hovering around the 94 range. To many errant chips and missed puts within 10 feet.

Didn't wait until twilight, parents live near Newlands so dropped the kids off and played 18. Can't remember the last time I lost 6 balls there, but I did today! lol

Shot an 88. Lipped out a couple times for birdie, but drained none. 31 putts with no 3 putts.

punkwax 08-09-2014 08:05 AM

Played Fort Langley a couple days ago.. first quad bogey in years after getting caught in some trees. Then a triple on the 18th after flying the green into a bunker then flying my bunker shot over the green on the way out :fuuuuu:

Playing Kings Links this afternoon. The way I've been spraying the driver this year, might have been a bad choice

N.V.M. 08-14-2014 04:29 AM

played Kings Links sunday, beware of the mosquitoes! no problem though, as they supply bug spray for you.
