Where is reasonably priced golf around Vancouver right now?
I've dusted off the old clubs and want to get back into the game.

Went to Mylora on Sidaway today and hated it. It was way too noisy from the cars and totally killed the atmosphere. Still enjoyed myself, but won't be going back there.

I shoot around 100 on a full length course. I don't mind executives. My budget is around $25-30.

What courses are around those prices right now?

Usually during the week or afternoon most places have pretty solid rates this time of year, usually all around 30-40 bucks. Fraserview is known for being one of the best winter courses in Vancouver for dryness and condition

Teed off at 1:15, finished the round and it was ~$40 with a power cart.

good to know, i was thinking about doing a round out there.

played this morning with my new irons, and i sucked. i knew that would happen, all is good. btw, looks like i'm all Titleist except for my woods, lol.

Dude, Fraserview is a wet sponge.not to mention when there's a trace of frost like there has been, they put up temp greens for the early rounds.

I haven't been out there this year but last year was usually solid when I went! I'm out in Langley so play Pagoda, Ledgeview, Northview which are all fairly decent winter courses...Northview being the wettest of the bunch tho unfortunately

Due to work, I can only play on Sunday afternoon unfortunately.

Are there any decent ones in Surrey? I work in Surrey.

Also, I heard about Game Golf. Does anyone here use it? I heard it's amazing. At $222 on Amazon, it seems reasonable.

check out Arccos Golf. More expensive and Apple only, but twice the tech.

Surrey is a big place... Morgan Creek, Peace Portal, Hazelmere are all in South Surrey.. as is Nico Wynd.

Both courses at Northview are really good, albeit a little pricey during peak season. Not as pricey as Morgan, but Morgan is easily the nicest track in Surrey.

Surrey Golf Course itself is great value. Nice full size course for $20 after 5PM. They also have a cheap executive there that you can play as many times as you'd like for <$20 IIRC... not as well maintained as the full size, of course.

Lesser courses IMO are Guildford for full size, Coyote Creek across the street for executive or Meridian is a good little par 3. Peace Portal's par 3 is typically in better shape, but shorter holes and there are only 9 of them (which you can play twice, same as Nico Wynd)

Do any of you use a golfing app?

I'm trying to find the best/easiest golf app there is to record our rounds. I have a solid 3-4 group of friends that will be golfing together.

I'm currently using Swing by Swing, but I would likely something easier to input. SbS isn't hard to use, but would prefer something a quicker

Just a heads up if anyone wants to come out to Surrey golf course, Thursday mornings at 9am we always throw together a little money game...20 bucks buy in and 10 extra if you want in on gross pot too; low net, skins for each hole, kp's, deuce pot. Usually about 10-25 guys out and a good time...shoot me a msg if you ever want in! handicaps that come are anywhere from Pros to 20+ handicaps so always a chance to win some money

re-gripped my new irons(and wedges, not pictured) to a mid size. much better. too small of grips make you grip harder, which sucks.

Peak Golf did them for me, while i waited. A++, would shop again.

Just started and getting serious into golf last week! Trying to be a driving range king before I hit a real course but I think I'm killing it with the improvements vs time.

Waiting for the putting matt I bought online to arrive, but in the mean time....

:toot: just messing around, do you think practicing this will actually help my putting game? I have been doing this in my room when I'm bored :p

Link to the putting mat? :) I'm pretty interested in a putting mat myself.

Maybe consider getting a Putting "dew board"

http://www.golfwrx.com/wp-content/up...2/IMG_2347.jpg

They sell them at Modern Golf out in Surrey.

^^^ I agree, the "dew boards" are unreal training tools for putting, I bring one when I'm on the road for work in my car to practice in hotel rooms

I just bought some Adicross gripmore golf shoes from Adidas. They are so comfortable.
Spikless shoes.

I was going to get the cheaper Adicross IV's, but the leather and feel of the gripmore was so much better. I had my last pair of shoes for over 10 years, so I feel these will last me a long time, well worth the investment.

Amazing!!!

I just bought the Nike Covert 2.0 from Sportchek. They are a year old but I needed a new driver because I needed more loft.

The Covert 2.0 is a gem. Tested at the new state of the art simulator at Sportcheck Metrotown and used it at the range tonight. Huge driver head and very forgiving. If you're in the market for a new driver but don't want to shell out $300 for one, try this one out. It goes for $179 at Sportchek but Golftown carries it for $149. I price matched it and signed up for Sportchek's mailing list to get an additional 10% off!

Played my usual round at Riverway yesterday, but had a day off today and went to Seymour G&CC. the greens were awful! Lumpy, bumpy, and invaded with some sort of grass disease. If I paid $50K to join that place, I'd sue the bastards.

bcuzracecarz 03-24-2015 06:49 PM

I still need to get out to Riverway, one of the very few I haven't played around here

N.V.M. 03-25-2015 03:29 AM

wait a couple weeks, greens were punched monday.

punkwax 03-25-2015 08:36 AM

Bought myself one of these: Golf Pass | Golf Surrey

Decent value if you compare to peak weekend rates at each course.

PeanutButter 03-27-2015 10:06 AM

Hey guys, can someone clarify the rules on penalty strokes and lost balls for me? I'm confused to what number shot I will be hitting.

Scenario.
Hole 1 - Water hazard to the left, deep bush/forest to the right.

1)
If I tee up and the ball goes to the left into the water hazard..
I will have to tee up again and I will be hitting my third shot? (First shot + penalty stroke + dropping ball at green again), this i'm pretty sure is right.

2)Now, what if I hit a ball to the right into the forest and it is lost.
Will I tee up again from the tee box and will I be hitting my third shot? or do I drop the ball where I know it entered the forest, and is that where I'll be hitting my third shot?

3) I hit my ball to the right into the hazard area, BUT I find my ball.
I'm not allowed to hit it out of the hazard right? So I drop my ball in bounds, will I be hitting my third shot as well?

4) What the heck is a provision ball, and how is it any different then the above?

5) Does any of this change if I tee up and drive the ball into the fairway and then with my SECOND shot, I hit it into the water or hit it into the hazards on the right?

Here: Line and Stake Color Meanings on Golf Courses

N.V.M. 03-27-2015 11:39 AM

For #1, yellow or red stakes?
